i have a 89 saleen, and i was wondering if it was ok to run 101 octane in it.

Unless there are serious performance modifications the car is set up to run regular pump gas. Higher octane gas has a longer burn rate which would cause more heat build-up in the combustion chambers as valves are closing causing the car to run hotter than normal.
