I have a 93 #65 and it is time for me to change the rotors and brakes . My problem is...I can not figure out what are the rear rotors. I tried the thunderbird turbo coupe, lincoln mark VII, and everything else from few and far in between. I also did the obvious and called saleen but you know that that was a waste of time. So...can someone please help me out. Oh! by the way the rotors on there now are cross drilled if thats any help.

Order a set of rear rotors for an 85-86 SVO mustang. They are the same unless someone changed your brakes. The Lincoln MK VII should fit. I just bought a set for mine and that's what I used.

I bought a few sets of brake pads over the years for my 1990 saleen and I believe the rear pads were the front pads for the Lincoln VII.

However its been over 10 years since buying the last set.

Jay thanks for the advice, but I need to figure out the propper rotor for the rear insted if these cross drilled rotors that are on here. They are smaller than the Mark VII/ SVO in diameter. Does that make a difference?

If I remember correctly the front brakes are 15" and the rears are 13" on the Saleens. I am pretty sure that if the Lincoln MKVI or MKVII has 13" disks on either the front or rear that the rotors and pads should bolt right onto the rear of your car.

Alright that is what I will try

Lets assume you've got the stock brakes, but someone simply changed the rotors.

If that's the case, and you're looking for Mark VII or SVO rotors, be advised that you should be sure you get quality rotors... some inexpensive replacements can have "omni-directional" fins -- in other words, the same rotor fits both left and right, instead of having fins specifically for the left and for the right.

The stock Ford parts, which are the same as all 1984-86 SVO, should have numbers like these:

Rear Rotor, Right: Ford E8LY-2C026-A (same as 82-87 Continental; 84-90 Mark VII)

Rear Rotor, Left: Ford E8LY-2C027-A (same as 82-87 Continental; 84-90 Mark VII)

Rear Caliper, Right: Ford E4LY-2552-A (same as 82-87 Continental; 84-90 Mark VII)

Rear Caliper, Left: Ford E4LY-2553-A (same as 82-87 Continental; 84-90 Mark VII)

Good luck!

Say Jim,
When I took the rotor off last time, the cross drilled rotors had a ford stamp on them but with no part number. I went to the dealer and no one knew what type of rotor it was. Go figure! I wonder if it was fom the old motorsport dept. that ford used to have.

They had the Ford "Oval?"

Hmmm... there 's usually also an "engineering number" ... it's similar to the part number, and it should have a 2C026 or 27 core part number somewhere, on or inside the "hat" ... but I suppose it could be without one, or it may have been machined off, but I think it's not in a place where that would happen..

I'm not familar with why they'd be cross-drilled, but '93s aren't really my expertise. And Ford Motorsport wasn't in the habit of selling cross-drilled rotors.

Likely someone just got the Ford ones cross-drilled, which probably isn't that uncommon, but why you've got a size discrepancy is beyond me, unless the dealer didn't have the right ones ('93 SVT Cobra and Turbo Coupe is smaller)

I'd try cross-referencing with the 1984-86 SVO and the other applications/part numbers I listed before... it shouldn't be hard to find them.

Frankly, there's a lot of aftermarket places that you could get a good deal on some rotors... cheaper than Ford. But I understand your concern on getting the right part.

You didn't say how much smaller these rotors are next to the Mark VII/SVO ones you already looked at. I'm leaning towards the rotors you have being the wrong ones. Key would be how they align with the calipers. Do the calipers look stock -- do they have a number like above?

Depending on where you're at, and if you figure out what you've got... One place I like is www.porterfield-brakes.com. They're in Costa Mesa, and do performance brakes any way you want them.

I used Ford Racing front Rotors and SVO Rear Rotors. The SVO and Lincholn Mark 7 are the same. The Ford racing are the same as SVO Mark 7.The only problem I had was the front caliper rbuild kit I had to get was a full size Ford .I think it was 73 mm.
