Surging

I've got a stock 5.0 (except for a set of shorty headers) in my 86 and for reasons unknown the motor is surging between 500 and 1200 rpm at stop lights and sometimes stalls if I don't catch it. Last December I replaced the fuel pump. Also in the last 8 months or so it has had a tune up where I replaced the plugs, wires, coil, plugs, wires, and fuel filter. It has actually gotten worse since. For reasons unknown to me it doesn't do it all the time but its getting worse.

Any ideas?

check the throttle postion sensor (tps) or egr valve

clean out the throttle body plate, throttle body, and remove the air solenoid valve. use intake cleaner and change the gaskets.
