Guys,

Posted this on some other forums but got no replies. Dont know whether its because its a dumbas question but I'll try here.

On my F150 harley supercharged truck, one of the first mods people recommended was to fit an oil seperator. As long as you have a supercharger, oil will inevitably find it's way back into the intake but having an oil trap you will eliminate about 90 % of that ingestion.
Without one, the results can be pretty bad...

Is this necessary with the Saleen S/C or has Saleen sorted this with their blower / inlet setup?

Yikes!... and that's with the root-type s/c, huh? That's what my Saleen is running. I've never heard of this problem. I'm interested to see what others have to say too.

keith,

had a few answers and yes it is recommended.

Have a look at this thread with a picture of one fitted to a Saleen.

Sorry I know its another Saleen forum but feel if this is an issue then we should all be aware of the problems and the causes and also how to fix it. Although Saleen should know of this?
Is there a Saleen rep on here that can confirm whether this oil seperator is definately needed. I would rather spend $30 on the parts than $5500 on a new charger setup.

Kev,

Thanks for the information. I too am interested to see if there's a Saleen rep that can confirm if the oil separator is needed. From the pix on the saleenpower site, it looks like it's needed.

get a hold of JDM in New Jersey. I talked to jr about this and he told me that his recommendation would be NOT to put on one the car.He said the tolerances in the charger are good but the oil vapor makes them even better. Hope this helps some
