hi-
as someone who worked on the 89 saleen mustang and ssc production line installing bodywork, exhaust tips, decals, emblems, and detailing, i can tell you that the screws were nothing special.
it was just a 2 stage process. 1st we used the self-tapping drill bit to put a round circle over the area where we were going to install the reinforcing screws on the rear valance and front airdam. then, we put the screws in so that they would be relatively flush. then top of the screw head with the factory touch up paint.
this was for 89 and up fox saleens.
personally, i preferred the clean look w/o the screws that saleen employed from 86-88. what i would do (and have done on my 87) is to remove the rear valance screws in the rear wheel well, cut the rear valance tie downs (big zip ties) and then strip all the all old adhesive off. get some new 3m auto body adhesive (green/white backing if you can get it instead of the red backing) and then before re-installing, there is something like auto version of rubber cement that we coated the top edge of the rear lx bumper where the 3m auto tape will stick. then, press on the new tape over the lx bumper and reinstall with new screws in the rear wheel well. touch up paint for the heads and let dry for 24-48 hrs. (no driving to let the adhesive cure).
same goes for the front air dam and side skits.
good luck.

Thanxs for the response vince. I didnt know about the "rubber cement" to help the tape adhere. thats probably the problem.
Any one know the name of this stuff or where to get it

i would hit up an auto supply store (paint, etc) and tell them what you are looking for. i'm sure they can help you out.
