We're working on an article to track down the history of the Saleen Contour show vehicle.

We know several people have reported it hitting the show circuit and are in the process of obtaining a variety of information. The Saleen family has also helped us locate some photos of body panels being fitted during the build.

If you are a former employee of Saleen (or even a current employee), an enthusiast, or have any knowledge of that you'd like to share, it would be much appreciated.

Leads, photos, tidbits would be helpful.

I talked with Sean Saleen the other day and he's on board to help with some background information, but it will take some time to dig up some photos.

The car was at the 1999 Charlotte Mustang 35th Anniversary Show.
I have photos on my website. I considered buying the car but it wasn't for sale. It also was built in a hurry and not necessarily durable for everyday use!

This was actually for sale....I believe it was last year...on the saleen website.

From my recollection....it was for off road use only and not street lega.

this car was at carlisle pa for the ford nat's a few years back..



i like in the video they should a build date of late 97- early 98 car. then it says its a 99 lol

Ya I remember that. I found it last week because I have an SVT Contour and needed a new clutch, I found one on Craigslist for sale and it turned out it was the owner of the Saleen Contour. :)

I drove this car to lunch in 2007 from the Fairbanks location with Elvia and I think Sean and the car broke down and Ron Hebler had to come pick it up with a trailer! It was in bad shape back then and had just a paper plate on the back but it defiantly was for sale back then.

Yes, it was sold to a Contour collector during the Fairbanks dismantling... It was offered to me, but the timing was bad for me to make the deal so I had to pass. It has since traded hands to the current owner.

A big problem for me was it wasn't street legal due to the engine mods... it was really a show/R&D car.

yeah i remember that one. bad idea.. didnt care much for the saleen thunderbird either. Then again, ford really droped the ball on that one. the concept was great but the final product was all watered down.

does anyone remember what the Contour concept car looked like?
