View Full Version : Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance - June 1

Saleen Forums News

We're trying to get a good turnout for the Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance on June 1 -- this has traditionally been a good event with a small Saleen class, but we're aiming for a good crowd this year so plan to bring out your Saleen and enjoy the day with your family.

The setting is adjacent to the beautiful Huntington Beach Central Library in Central Park. There are many vendors (including food vendors), storytelling and other entertainment for kids -- it's fun for the entire family -- oh, and there are cars to look at as well.

It's a nice fundraiser for the Children's Resource Center and a great excuse to get together with other Saleen enthusiasts.

Please RSVP and be sure you register today!

And we'll have some surprises for everyone who enters their Saleen!

For more info, please visit www.hbconcours.org (http://www.hbconcours.org) and download a registration form (http://www.hbconcours.org/2008/forms/Concours%20Entry.pdf).

Oh, and don't be intimidated if your car is not concours, but is at least a reasonably clean daily driver -- please still enter the show -- we're just out here to have fun!

The May 23rd registration deadline is approaching (this Friday), and we've had a pretty good response of people who have not yet added to the Poll above, but please send your registration in now.

Please send your registration in as soon as possible!

Update!

For all Saleen entrants in the HB Concours:

Steve Saleen will be in attendance and will be available to sign the cars of any Saleen owners who are entered in the show!

Molly will also be there with her Molly Pop Saleen, and she will autograph a Molly Pop poster for each Saleen entrant as a special thanks for participating in this fundraiser event.

George,

Many thanks for sharing the photos.

I really am glad you were able to make it out -- your PJ car looked great!

I'm also glad that you were able to get a picture with Steve and Molly (and Liz in the background). I think everyone had a good time visiting with the Saleen family and I know they had a good time, too.

It was interesting to get a detailed look at the car... I wasn't expecting anything, but I got a nice third place recognition trophy...
I guess the extra hours of polishing payed off.

I also took some pictures for those who want to see them... check out the link.

Enjoy

I'm glad everyone who attended seemed to have a great time, and those who had their families come out seemed to enjoy it.

Because SOEC stepped-up as an event sponsor, we were able to park on the grass as well as get our name on the trophies, and it was an honor to do so with such wonderful cars on display

I'm glad everyone who attended from both Saleen clubs had a great time, and those who had their families come out really enjoyed the park.

Because SOEC stepped-up as an event sponsor, we all were able to be on the grass instead of the asphalt as well as get our name on the trophies. With that, Molly and Steve and Liz (and granddaughter Hannah) brought us their support, and it was an honor to do this with such wonderful cars and people in attendance.

Some of my favorite photos from Robert's gallery...

Curtis Parker's 1st-in-class SSC is no stranger to picking-up trophies...

A row of first-timers... from left-to-right, the Saleens of Darren Montemayer, Robert Landry, Robert Benitez, Jerry Stone, and Molly Saleen. Off to the right, Jerry Stone visiting with Dennis McKee.

The Benitez kids had a great time and are proud of their daddy's 3rd place in the late-model class...

With the exception of George Hernandez's PJ car, this is the "old timers" row with (left to right) 2nd in late-model class with SCOA's Dennis McKee (who originally helped get a Saleen class in the show several years ago), new owner George Hernandez, Curtis Parker and Gary Benson who won 1st in late-model class with his S351.

In Concours judging, they're very thorough... Gary Benson's beautiful silver S351 is getting the once-over...

You also have the option to enter the show, but not be judged, so we hope for more participation next year.

Families of Saleen owners really enjoyed the park...

In the spirit of the traditional Concours, 1st-in-class winners were presented their trophies as they drove in front of the stage where they received a trophy and a big bucket of Mothers Polishes-Waxes-Cleaners.

1st in the early models was Curtis Parker's 1989 SSC...

1st in the late models was Gary Benson's 1999 S351...
