Hello all,

I'm a proud new owner of S281 96-0314 and I have a couple of questions regarding the body kit.

Are the original side skirts made from urethane, fiberglass, or plastic? My passenger side is cracked and I bought a used pair of urethane ones but not sure if they're authentic Saleen. My existing ones are fiberglass or plastic and I want to use the urethane ones but not if they're not authentic.

Also, I was wondering about the mesh bumper inserts. I have the gray cloth-type inserts on the sides of my front and rear bumper, but was wondering if those are uthentic. I heard that Saleen originally had metl mesh grills and had them on the front of the bumper as well. Can someone please confirm this and post pics if available?

Thanks!

I know the earlier...maybe all production 94 and up Saleen used some space age plastic for the side skirts and the wing. The side skirts almost remind me of a more rigid disposable plastic cup. The wings were made from centrex. I bought some side skirts for my 98 like a year ago and they were made out of urethane. They had Saleen stamp on the inside. All my friends Saleen's are made of the light plastic like yours. Not sure if they switched to urethane during the production years or just switched to urethane because to cut cost. I know that the S-351 and S-281 wings are now made from urethane also, use to be centrex material.

The clothe inserts were also used by saleen in the early years of the 94 and up. They did switch to the metal mesh inserts maybe in late 96 or early 97. The metal mesh are on all the openings except the center large airdam opening.

You can buy the large "Magnum" sharpie marker to restore the fabric inserts. Take the insert out of the marker and hold it to the fabric, it will pull the ink fronm the sharpie and the cloth inserts will look like new again.
