View Full Version : Original Saleen tire sizes for '98

What were the original tire sizes on brand new Saleen's in 1998? I'm the second owner of my s281 and was wondering what the original tires were and what size. The original Saleen rims that were on the car when I bought it were curbed very badly, so I got a good deal on the '99'-'04 Saleen rims and put them on. I have the 18x8.5? in the front and 18x10 rears. Currently the tires are Pirelli P-zero 245/40/18 front and 295/40/18 rear (which rub when going over dips or hard turns.)
98-0033 was/is a yellow wheel car? That's neat, very '90s Saleen and a cool look.
I see #33 had the 10" wheel upgrade/ tire upgrade from the get.
'98 spec reports for the upgrade:
245/40 Front
295/35 Rear
Those 1999-2004 Saleen rims might be an even 9" upfront.
'99 spec reports for the upgrade:
265/35 Front
295/35 Rear

Yep, the Saleen Owners Registry. 98-0033 has neat options and its a cool color, neat find!
Since I don't recall a yellow SN-95 Saleen coupe in Atco, I take it you spectated? Or... did I somehow miss #33.

Yes, I was spectating... I didn't even know Steve Saleen and all the groups were going to be there! I was just going for the annual NMRA show...what an awesome surprise!

Yep, the registry lists the names.
Example: 98-0033
2nd Listed Owner: Matt Goldstein, State CA
3rd Listed Owner: Drew Allen, State NJ
Shipped: 01/08/98
Options: 3.55:1 gears, Tire Upgrade, Torsen Rear Diff, Twin Gauge Pod, Yellow Wheels, 10" Rear Wheels
If a previous owner (or if the original buyer) never contected Saleen after purchase... then their name would not be added to the owners list.

That would be the last printed Saleen vehicle registry, circa 2002/2003.

That's great! I had no idea my name was in there - It's actually Andrew Allen, but Drew is what everyone calls me. I will be picking the Saleen book up on eBay as soon as I see it!

Don't eBay things unless you establish the real price first... there's a lot of price-jacking by some sellers.
Though author Brad Bowling sometimes has them on eBay to counter these culprits, there are none there now... but you can order directly from Brad's website at thesaleenbook.com (http://www.thesaleenbook.com/).

Hey, I was just notified by someone on the S.C.O.A message board about someone that apparently cloned or bought a cloned #033 98 Saleen, which is mine and they live in the same state as me. The car isn't even the right color. What can I do about this???

That looks like a blue car... if yours is yellow, that is rather suspicious.
