View Full Version : Saleen Alley PJ Print
***Update 04/01/2009*** Saleen Alley/PJ Print project is over.
***Update 04/06/2009*** I think there's been twelve or so 18x24 prints sold. The original idea of selling ten was not farfetched.
After punching numbers. Including shipping and packing the 18X24 print will have to cost $40.00.
With the price at $40.00 for the large print, a 8.5X11 print can be looked into.
See Bob's 8.5X11 H281 print: (Text can still be read.)
http://saleenforums.soec.org/showthread.php?p=10730
Last known interested parties for the PJ are/were:
- Aussie-Parnelli (shipping costs not looked into)
- tonylop33
- Bruce
- pacettr
If this records accounts for the interested parties (also if the interest is still there) than that will be the production run.

I am ok with the $40 price. I take a 8.5 by 11 also for car show display. I would put the larger one in my office and use the smaller one for car shows.

The 40 bucks is fine. I too would also like the smaller version if and when available. Thanks for putting this together Dave. We greatly appreciate your effort. At your convenience let me know how you want payment. Credit Card, Check or Paypal all work for me.

And thank you thank you thank you...
Here's a question about the smaller 8 1/2 X 11 PJ print.
What would you rather have:
- The sheet printed on a gloss, photo paper style stock?
Or.
- A bright white sheet of paper, then laminated?
There is really no price difference. I think it depends on what you're going to do with it.
I' guessing here, but I think the photo paper one would need a small frame if the intent is to display this at an event. It might not hold up. Though, I have no proof as to why I say this. It will get messy with fingerprints.
Bob's H281 print was laminated paper, for reference.
The small print is the final task. The large print was proofed, looks awesome, just need to do the run of four.

I am thinking laminated like the H281.

Hi Dave
I would go with the photo, then you could roll it up with the poster, unless you think the laminated one would also roll up.
Leave it up to you

Photo paper
I heard from Bob. His take was/is the text is kinda' small on the 8.5X11.
It's readable, but small.
If this worries anyone... the small one can turn into an 11x17. Offhand, without printing one this size, can't say how much the text size will improve. I'll probably print a test in this size to see.

I would like the 8 1/2 X 11 to be able to be framed like a picture so I'm incline to go with the gloss photo paper style stock. However, if either is fine for framing and of equal quality then I do not have a preference.
Dave, is there also going to be a larger 11X17 poster as well?
Notes made. Thanks.
Dave, is there also going to be a larger 11X17 poster as well?
Probably one, just so I can see how it looks. 11x17 or 12x18 in size.

I would prefer 11x17, but the 8.5x11 is okay if the group prefers the smaller size. I can live with photo paper or laminated. Whatever works best you for to make.

I would like both sizes if its not too much trouble.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
- Aussie-Parnelli: One full-size print, and One 8.5x11 gloss (or laminated, doesn't mind either).
- tonylop33: One full-size print, and One 11x17 (or 12x18) laminated (doesn't mind either).
- Bruce: One full-size print, One 8.5x11 and, One 11x17 (or 12x18) all gloss.
- pacettr: One full-size print and, One 8.5x11 gloss.

Dave,
I got the goods. Spectacular! This will certainly allow me to frame the posters for home/office and print some smaller versions for show display. Seems like these days its not just the car but the display package that helps win trophies..Thanks again..Anyone else looking for display material should contact Dave..He delivers!
Bruce and Tony. Tubes are in the mail.
Bob, thanks for the kind words. Enjoy!

I just realized the two photos in the bottom left corner of that are ones I took.
That was a the 2006 Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance... I had arranged to get Saleen to exhibit, which seemed like a natural with the PJ car. The '70 Boss 302 was a participant's car and the Saleen people got the two cars together at the end of the day for some shots. If I recall correctly, I think they sold him a PJ... I know they sold at least one PJ that day.
Molly worked the event along with Danny Prosser and Jim Thomas and some others. Liz and Steve came for part of the day and brought their granddaughter. I took this pic (below) of Liz and their little puppy "Chassis." I forgot why she was named "Chassis," but certainly they're a car family, so it fits one way or another. Not long after they got her, Steve, always making fun, started referring to her as "Modified Chassis" since she had been fixed.:biggrin:

Hello, I have recently purchased PJ#500 and have just found this forum. I know I am late but if there is anyway to get a print like the one shown in this thread I would love it. I guess this is directed to Dave as it seems you are the one who has put this together. By the way, the PJ is a fantastic machine--what a thrill to drive much less look at. I am looking forward to the Skip Barber school as well.
So PLEASE, Please have a couple of those left .

Hi there, welcome to the forums! Gotta' love the 500 number!
User pj302-85 never claimed his print. So this one is packed and stored at the moment. The downside is, when I figured it wasn't going to ship... I dropped a packing tube on the print, creating a blem on the side shot of the car. A scratch.
So, I can offer the above print to you, at a discount rate. Or I can order you a new one and it should be ready to ship in a few days.
If memory serves correctly, PJ 501 was claimed by an Saleen Inc employee... making the #500 car the highest number PJ offered to the public.
Enjoy the driving school!

Thanks Dave. I would like to get the one you have on hand. I would also like to order a new one as well as a 11x17 if possible. Let me know how you would like me to handle the $$ and shipping. Really appreciate it. I plan on using the larger ones for use at car shows/meets and the smaller one is for my 17 year olds wall. Thanks so much. Charlie
Hi Charlie.
Large Print = 2
11 X 17 = 1
I'll see what's what and let you know in a few. Probably by PM or email.

Dave, Just thought you might want to see the car board I had made:
http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u316/bruce0146/3Poster.jpg
Hi Bruce. That looks neat!
If memory serves me, this work was the catalyst for the SOEC PJ poster prints. I believe Jim shared/sent an image of your show board to me.
Got me thinking... and the rest is history.
I take that you sacrificed an issue of Saleen Alley to produce this?
Anyway... that's the story. Congrats!
Thanks so much. Charlie
Hi Charlie. Items are ready to ship.
