Well I bought a Saleen. I was wanting a S351 but this one came along at the right price so I picked it up. I am excited to have it.

Congratulations on your new Saleen -- those are a beautiful body style and they look great in white! I hope you enjoy it, and bet it turns almost as many heads as the Viper.
I will agree with Jim. The 1994-1998 Saleens look great in white with white wheels!
The 1996-98 S281s are a great buy. Mint vehicles, with decent to low miles can be found at a 3rd or less of their original price. The PI updates can be done to them as well, if there's a need to turn it up a bit.
Congrats! A very nice way to kill time if you're still looking for an S351. Now you can sit and wait for the right one at the right price and cruise the 281.
Will this car gain the vented hood?

Thanks guys. I was looking at putting a vented hood on it but I am not 100% yet. I always loved the SN95 body style and the white is my fav color. :) Can't wait to get some more seat time in.
If you do go with the vented hood, and if you have space, save the original hood. Ford was still placing VIN stickers on all the major body panels. If you have limited space and must get rid of the hood, document its originality in case there's ever a question as to why a vented version was swapped.
Not that any of this is a big deal. Many happy returns with the 281!
Did you find the car locally? Or was it trucked in from out-of-state?

I live in SC and this one came from FL. About a 5 hour drive there. Made for a long day.
Whew... 10 hours.
Did you find it on Autotrader or Mustang Trader, or some other national publication?
Looks good. Any previous mods? Maybe eyes could be off, but looks the windshield has the 1999+ SALEEN banner.

Just so I know what is the difference with the 99 saleen logo and the 94-98?

Basically they stretched the Saleen text, starting in 1999. This made the banners longer on the ends.

Hey Dave,
I think that you are right. Looks like it is the later banner. I know that all of the stickers have been replaced. I have receipts but it does not state a year for the saleen banner. Hum.
Your '97 looks good as it sits. I don't think I'd remove a new decal.
If they replaced the chevrons and side lettering, they did a great job! Side photo looks like those are spot on.
