I need help with my replacement Alarm control. I got this as directions...
The keyless entry unit is in the trunk area on the drivers side. Remove the carpet material and there is a mounting bracket that holds the keyless entry unit (mounted on back) and the anti-theft unit (mounted on front. To program the keyless entry you have to put the key in the ignition and turn it on, but don't start car. In the trunk by the unit you will find a harness that has 2 pins, short those together and the doors will lock then unlock, that tells you that it is in program mode, then you push any button on the remote and the doors will lock and unlock again to let you know the remote was programmed, then you hit a button on any other remotes you are programming and the doors will lock and unlock again. Turn the key off and you are done! It takes only a couple minutes and this will delete any previous remotes and program the new ones. Hope this helps!!

And I saw this on youtube.

Does anybody know if this works on a 1996 GT ??

Hi Manny. I sent a Private Message your way.

I bookmarked a few things on the Net when I thought keyless entry would be neat to add to a '95. I passed over the adding a brain and harnesses content.

I'm far from an expert on this. I'm lead to believe the remotes are interchangeable. IE: One from a '01 can be programmed for a '96.

I haven't seen fobs for every model year of Mustang, but I know the 1994-95 came with a pony logo fob and by 1999 they came with the basic plain corporate fob of a smaller design.

I'm sure someone here have accomplished their own reprogramming and I encourage their input.

Wayne works with dealers. He should have an idea.

That's a bummer.

Cruising the Net, a couple thing came out. It's stated that fob reprogramming is listed in the owners manual. Also, cars with a factory keyless module should turn the dome light on if your car is locked and pull one of the exterior door handles.

Looking at the 1996 Mustang sales brochure, keyless is/was listed as an across-the-board option this particular year.

(IE: Keyless not standard with any package.)

Not an expert, but now I wonder if you have a dealer installed keyless system?

Try locking the doors and pulling handles to see if the dome light turns on and if you have remotes that came with the car, take a photo of those.

BTW: The alarm was an option on top of the keyless. Not every keyless car had a factory alarm. It was an additional module.

Additional Homework.

Well got an Autopage alarm. Pretty neat but it looks like I got r***d. I paid $399 (installed) for an alarm I found on ebay for $100 bucks. Its a cool alarm and I needed it. Oh well.

Heres another riddle.
When I bought the car, the door lock panel (on both sides) didn't work. I thought it was because the previous alarm had been disconected. Now that I get a new alarm, the shop says they don't know why it doesn't work. So they couldn't hook up the keyless entry. Anybody know why? Is there a relay that goes bad? Maybe a door module? Help!

Thanks
~Manny

Have you had the door panels off? To poke around. They (panels) come off rather easily.

Do you hear the power locks trying to work when you hit the lock switch? Do your power mirrors work?

The windows work on both sides. The only thing that didn't work when I bought the car were the door locks and they do not make a sound. They just don't work. I called the previous owner today and she said that she lost the alarm remotes and had the alarm disconnected. I was assuming that they would come back when a new alarm was installed but I was wrong. Another thing I was told was that the car sat for a while and that the connections might be oxidized. I would assume if that was the case the windows would not work as well.

If the door locks do not work if you press the factory lock/unlock button, they could be bad... it's not unheard of for door lock solenoids to go bad.

You'd want to do some electrical testing... if you can find a shop manual, there may be some basic testing in there.
