ok, I've looked, searched and read about every thread on here for the last couple days seems like. What do I need to do first to my truck and what do I need to get fixed before the warranty runs out. Is there a way to get Ford/Saleen to fix my pinion angle to eliminate the shudder from the start....will they do this just b/c I ask them to, is there a recall on it or tsb or something I can use to get it done? And will it tear up my rear end if its not fixed? Then the fan issue...I dont wanna give up the e-fan so should I pay the $700 quoted in another thread for the bigger relays or what? And the dreaded Saleen flash.....should I send it back in for the reflash (it hasnt been done) or just go to troyer/jdm for the tune/kit combo and not worry about the reflash? And of all this.....WHAT SHOULD I DO FIRST????? Sorry for the long post but Im eager to get started on this thing. Im not looking to build a beast (already had it in my lightning) just want a dependable, strong truck that performs as it should and is advertised. So yall tell me....whats the most important thing that I need to do? thanks

Saleen does not recognize this as an issue. My dealer just gave me back my truck and said they could find no such vibration, but never checked pinion angle. I will be taking mine to a local mechanic to see what he says. There is a TSB out there for this problem. Remember though, a TSB is not a recall. It is only if you are experiencing this problem.
And will it tear up my rear end if its not fixed?
We will all find out in about 20-30k miles. Or, more than likely, 36,001 miles
Then the fan issue...I dont wanna give up the e-fan so should I pay the $700 quoted in another thread for the bigger relays or what?
You can order a set of fans from JDM or give Mike Troyer a call and see if his relays will fix this. However, no need to replace these unless you have one go out
And the dreaded Saleen flash.....should I send it back in for the reflash (it hasnt been done) or just go to troyer/jdm for the tune/kit combo and not worry about the reflash?
SEND IT TO SALEEN FIRST! Let them fix it and get a good flash on it. Remember, an aftermarket tune will, more than likely void your warranty. At least you will be able to set it back to stock when you go in for service
And of all this.....WHAT SHOULD I DO FIRST?????
Most importantly, get your truck reflashed. There is really nothing else you can do at this point. If you want to talk performance increase, thats a totally different thread :)
JDM has a nice kit at a good price now, Troyer has a nice kit for only a hair cheaper. Both know what they are doing.
feel free to email me anytime.

ok, well I took the truck in this morning to get my door security code pulled....which they couldnt do at this time (this is a saleen dealer btw) because its "not as simple as plugging the computer into it like the f150 and just puliing the code, there are a few steps you have to take and we have to conatct Saleen and have them fax this procedure to us be fore we can perfor m this for you". So, i told them to get the crap faxed to them and I will bring it back in a few days...they did offer to go ahead and do it this morning but said it could take up to 2 hours to get it done for me. So, while I was there I mentioned the pinion angle and vibration...as you said they have " no documentation or paperwork on that issue" so like you said, guess I'll take it a local ford tuner I have here and see if he's intersted in trying to fix that for me....he did all the tuning on my lightning and I never had any problems out of it...granted he's no troyer or jim but he did do good work on my L. I considered letting him tune this truck especially since he is local and he does have alot of experience with fords (thats actually all they work on) but he deals with Diablo chips/tunes. I know yall sing the praises of troyer and jim and i would love for them to work on it but lets face it, Im a LOOOOOONg way from both of them. On the fans, I understand that I dont have to replace the relays until one goes out.....but I hate to be face with being stranded on the side of the road b/c I decided to wait till it happens rather than be pro active and fix it ahead of time so it doesnt strand me on the side of the interstate, hours from home pulling my race bike to the track. bad time to find out I shoulda gone ahead and fixed em. And If I dont fix the relay prior to it burning up, isnt there a risk of it actually damaging the fan as well if the relay goes out? I definately dont wanna have to fix 2 things when I coulda fixed one. Noted on the reflash, I'll get that sent off soon. Thanks for the advice and tell me what youthink of all this.

If the relay goes out, I dont think the fan will work at all. If your truck leaves you stranded, you should have free roadside assistance and everything should be warranteed.
If you really want a dyno tune, you could always drive to Mobile and visit James at RWTD (Runnin With the Devil). He is a well known tuner. Although mail order tunes and some datalogging should be able to net you a good tune from JDM or Troyer. That is...if you want a tune at all.

yeah, I had an extensive conversation with troyer this afternoon. I had not planned on doing anything to the truck but after speaking with him I think his stage 1 kit is along the performance lines im looking for. It seems that program and tune eliminates the surging problem, and gets the hp yup to a respectable level. Probably wont do much else but I think that will defionately make me feel better about the truck. the 4 lbs boost and surging at every shift just isnt cutting it and he really seemed like he didnt think it was worth sending the pcm back to Saleen for the reflash...his experience with it hasnt shown any real mprovement after the customers got it back....he said. what do you think, did you get it done and if so, did it seem to fix everything or did it still perform like crap? he also tod me to go check my front tires......wish I hadnt . outsides like brand new....insides slick as S**t. Tires have 7k miles on em and they are ruined. Guess 2morrow im going to get an alignment.......joy!

Saleen190,
I think the tune would be the first thing. It will void warranty but doesent sound like its much of a warranty to lose. You can always switch parts before you go into have it serviced. I just got my truck about 6 months ago and am still frustrated. All BS aside you have 2 options 1: be patient and plan on spending money on things that should of been covered under warranty......OR 2: sell it. I am going to put the JDM kit on first see how I like it and then probably put it up for sale. I need a dependable vehicle not a project.

SaleenKS, just remember, if you sell, you will probably take a HUGE loss as the cost of these trucks have come down nearly $20,000!! If you DO sell, you can pick up a NICE BUILT lightning for $25k or less....and I am talking BUILT for that price. Or, if you want a new ride, you could spend a cool $50k and have a NICE NICE NICE Cervinis truck.
I cant bring myself to take the loss and I enjoy my Saleen buddies in another club. THose are the only two things that have kept me from selling.

yeah I Agree on the tune after some thought, however I am going in just a minute to get my freakin front end aligned. I am kinda confused on getting the reflash fron Saleen, MIke told me he really though it was a waste of time and that my truck would be down during the turnaround time...which saleen claims is 3-4 days....but right now with things the way they are there who knows. And obviously if I get mikes kit then yeah, the reflash would definately just have been a waste of time. Ive noticed several of yuo guys have stated that you "just switch parts" when you take the truck in for service.....clear this up for me. and I assume we are all in the same boat here, that the 3 years part of the warranty is fixing to elapse on all of the 07's.....if the warranty is up you shouldnt have to take anything off after that warranty is up. No matter what , whatever is wrong shouldnt be covered anyway since it has elapsed? Am I missing something here? I mean, when i took my Lightning to ford to have it worked on I was proud to roll that thing in there with the kenne bell blower, chips and the 4 page thick list of upgrades I had done to it and it had no effect on anytihng....other than the techs spent more time checking it out than getting the work I needed done performed. I am assuming here in a few months (when my 3 years rolls over) I should be able to take the truck in with the troyer kit and whatever else I may have done to it, and have it worked on if needed. Like I said, I am well aware that warranty wont be covering it but I wont have one anyway...?

Well from firsthand experience it suck to be stranded especially with the price we paid for these trucks. While everything should be warranted I was still told to pay $160 for towing to the nearest "Saleen" dealer. Apparently when you call Fords roadside assistance they don't have a clue what "Saleen" is so you have to go to the nearest ford dealer who can't even help you. Now I am going to lose the electric fans and hp. So to Saleen190 I would recommend upgrading the fans first. My truck aslo has tuning problems but it doesn't suck as near as bad as trying to get your broke down truck back to the dealer so it can get repaired and who knows how long that will take.
