Greetings again from Canuckistan. Once again..nothing ever comes through by email or phone from Saleen "Canada," are they even in business anymore in Canada..were they really ever?? No..I don't think so..owning a Saleen in Canada is terrible..there is ZERO product backup here whatsoever. I am going to tear out that useless 302 and drop a new 460 racing motor a friend found for me (aluminum head/block-the best of everything-dyno shows 766 HP first pull) made for a local racers Stang!
All in by the time we do the install, clutch upgrade etc. etc. I have estimated it will have cost me an extra $15,600..now that is what I call an excellent dollar value upgrade..and I still have the crappy 302 in storage!
I'll begin posting conversion photos at the end of the month when we begin work, I pulled the 302 this weekend, no problem (my shop at home).

Sorry to read. What are your problems? I was under the impression that Saleen Canada had income issues and was nolonger functioning. Maybe during 2008. Could have been mindless chatter.

Did Saleen CA produce a PJ vehicle? Or did you import yours from the US?

460 as in a vintage big block?

Sounds like a elbow deep project, best wishes! Please post photos.

I was told by Saleen that the the "canadian rep" was not working out for them, and I was to deal with Saleen USA directly.

I was approached BY Saleen USA to ba a Canadian Dealer beacause the relationship with the guy from quebec was ending. WE made the deal to Sell the cars, the next Day the S*&T hit the fan and the deal was off. (This was the big cuts in Irvine and MI)

As far as your car is concerned deal with Jess Albright directly and he will help you out.

He's certainly helped me.

Thanks for the "very" interesting bit of information! How are things in your neck of the woods?

The Ford Business in Manitoba is strong. Parts and service remain stable and our new vehile sales are down about 9%this year over last Used vehicle sales are up 22%. Most of the downturn is related to F150-F350 sales due to the fuel price crisis last summer.

I'm not naive but I am also not worried at this point

All PJ's were produced in the Irvine facility.

I know a few were shipped to Canada.

why on earth would you rip out the 302

There are currently 11 that I know of in Canada, all were imported ie: not sold new at dealerships. I almost bought one as well. the estate that I bought my car from had 4 Saleens for sale.

S281E Vert
S281 3V
S281SC ( mine)
and a PJ

He was a collector, had lots of neat cars and planes

Thanks again for the info..very good to knw what is happening in the rest of the country..I have always found Winnipeg to be such a friendly "town" and in fact the praries in general are, in my humble opinion, the best part of Canada. I also have a '07 F350 HD PS fully loaded, an '08 Lincoln Mark fully loaded as my daily driver and my PJ (those are my Fords). I have not had any problems with the two trucks..in fact I love them so far. I know everyone screams about the horrific problems they have with their 6.0's I have the extended warranty etc. and as with all of my vehicles, I pay special attention to the details.
As far as the "302" goes, I knew going in that it was not going to be "the" engine I wanted to "push" and the horsepower just isn't there as a NA engine (especially with an 3,000 lb.+ car) without some serious modifications..at least for me. I thought it would be better to keep my eyes out for a engine that could take some serious autocrossing etc. and at the same time be highly reliable. I weighed the options and realized for me it was a no brainer..since of course I can always drop the immaculate "302" back in the PJ without any real issues. I know it is not for everybody..lol..even my best friend (who has 5 cars) cursed me..but then lent a hand!
Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to share the info!
