I thought I read somewhere that the PJ did not come with a spare, true ? I just looked and found one , right where it should be.

I have one. Just hope it fits over the brakes if I need it.

What front brakes do these cars come with? My S302E came with a compressor (loose in the trunk), as the spare will definitely not fit the S302E front brakes. Did you get the compressor too?

While lifting my car with a floor jack, I took a look at the "factory" jacking points (i.e. the pinch welds) - and they are blocked by the side skirts. So even if I had a rear tire flat, I wouldn't be able to jack the car (safely) using the stock scissor jack anyway. I am going to pull the spare and jack (safely storing them for so the car is "complete" when I enter it in Concours shows in 2050...), and get one of the GT500 foam-inserts for the spare-well (which apparently holds the compressor quite nicely).

I never thought of the jacking issue, but I took a black elastic band, that was in the trunk from something else and the compressor fits perfectly secure strapped against the trunk liner just infront of the latch. There are two "tie-down" notches to either side that work like it's made for it. I don't why they are there, but that's what I did.

The spare tire will not fit over the front brakes that's why they gave us the compressor. I got rid of my spare and put the compressor in the foam holder that the gt500 owners use and put that in my trunk. it uses the same hook and wingnut to hold it down it also prevents the floor from bending in. I bought it at my local dealer for about twenty dollars.

this pic is not mine but its the same set up

Maybe a couple concrete blocks in the well would help traction.

OK, someone has got to do a run of these things with a Saleen Logo. Should be pretty easy to do (and its actually quite a pity Saleen didn't do this, instead of just leaving the compressor loose in the trunk). And with all that dead space, someone has got to come up with a clever use (that doesn't include more sub-woofers... ). Volunteers?

Chris.

Hahahaha..hilarious if it were not so pathetic, proving once again that Saleen products are "staggeringly" overpriced, poorly thought out, not backed up with warranties (while other "car" companies are bending over backwards) and a history of customer service that is worse than the IRS. This is of course is my humble opinion as an owner..lol..I can't wait for the engine issues to begin when a few PJ's rack up some mileage.

Are you talking about the compressor/sealant?

If it's good enough for the gt500 and shelby GT its good enough for my saleen!

Even the Ford GT supercar has it...

Is there a part number for the spare tire insert? Never saw this before.

Were the Parnelli's issued with an air compressor, my 2 certainly didn't have one, only the Eagle One Kit and Number15 Decals

I have looked online and can find the insert as part of the compressor kit, but not as an insert only. It is probably an issue of knowing the right part name for the block itself.

Here is a link to the FRPP site listing. I have seen the complete kit somewhere else online for just under $200 as well.

You wont find it online, get with a parts guys at a dealership and he will be able to find it. My parts guy found it in the body/collision catalog

You can buy it here for a lot less money....

The TireRack kit does say it is not for use with Tire pressure sensor equipped wheels, it looks identical to the FoMoCo labelled kit except where it says "Conitnental" mine says "FoMoCo". You could potentially save $100-120 after paying for the block from a dealership.

Does anyone know if the one from Ford covers damage to the sensors?

The ContiKit is also only available from TireRack to US addresses according to the link, sorry Aussie.

It is the same kit as the ford unit, I have used it with no damage to the sensors, Just had to clean the goop off the sensor. I have these kits in all of my cars. you don't have all ways use the sealant. I use the compressor to adjust my tire pressures at the track/ before and after runs!

Thanks for the info on the sensors. That makes me feel better. I have used mine for air only and it works quite well actually.

Probably a dumb question - but I just bought #82 last week, and was going over it. How do you get to the spare? I'm missing a bunch of fasteners in the trunk, but didn't see how the trunk floor lifted to get to the spare, and I didn't want to break anything. Like I said, probably a dumb question. gr1dylan 07 PJ, 65 restomod, 70 F100 shortbed

Congratulations on your purchase.

Just lift the carpet at the edge of the panel at the rear of the car, the carpet is attached to a panel covering the spare wheel. It can be a little awkward but will lift up easily once you get the hang of it.

Remember the spare won't fit over brakes on the front, and you need a special thin socket to get to wheel nuts.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

Congrats on the new PJ purchase!

Did you receive the Saleen supplied Gorilla wrench and socket for wheel removal?

Is that what that is called! I wondered. It was just loose in the trunk, along with the air compressor. Is it supposed to go somewhere special? gr1dylan

It came loose on all the PJs. I bought the GT500 Styrofoam holder pictured above and zip tied the wrench to the holder.
