I had the PJ in to have the Techco watts link installed and a cpl days later noticed a odd noise when I went around a corner, and as I pushed in the clutch, louder when first started but the noise was there any time I drove it. I raised it up and checked for anything loose under the car esp near the rear end. Couldnt find anything damaged and or loose.I checked the dipstick for the oil level as I was thinking of what other things might be causing the noise, I found not one drop of oil on it ! I have never found a single drop or puddle of oil under the PJ. The dealer has been the only one to perform an oil service on it. I ended up putting 3 qts in just to get the oil to reach the middle of the dots on the dipstick ! The car does not blow or smell like burning oil, the muffs do look a little wet inside but not dripping with oil.Im taking it in today, anybody have any thoughts on where all that oil could have gone?? Having the dealer do a comp test. Thx much for any input on this . Its driving me nuts just thinking about it!

I have not experienced this with my PJ, however, in 3400 miles I have changed my oil 6 times. More so for the months rather than the mileage.
Don't rule out that your dealer may have messed up, especially if they are the only ones that have changed it.
If nothing is found I would change the oil and filter and double check to make sure its full then watch it for awhile. If nothing was found and the oil is fine after the change, then chaulk it up to dealer error.

When I take my PJ in for first oil change since I bought this car, can anyone recommend what type of oil to use? Mobil 1 synthetic or regular oil and what grade?
Also, I really like the new white cue ball shift knob you find on newer 08 or 09 Mustangs with the shift pattern on top. I wonder if this fits the PJ shifter?
thanks for anyone's thoughts on the above.

All Modulars use oil, up to 1 qt for 1000 Miles is considered "normal" Aways check your oil every 500 miles.
Kyliee, there are a few threads on oil grades we cant seem to agree. On the Forged interals / stroker 302 I recommend Mobil1 or Royal Purple 5w30.

When I was at Saleen, this was a common known issue. Some of the PJs do use oil. We even saw some use up to 2 quarts in 1000 miles.

Hahahaha..normal by who? Lololo.."burning" oil, especially on a the "new" modulars that are not seeing track time and with very low mileage is very...I repeat..very rare and not a "normal good" sign by any stretch of the imagination. My '60 used to burn a "little" oil but it should have with over 100,000 miles and some serious "stress" inlcuding some track time. I use Redline racing 100% synthetic in all four of my vehicles (including my truck) without any issues whatsoever to date. If a "21st century modular" engine "burns" through plenty of oil under very normal driving conditions (including temp. etc.) then there is something wrong..in my humble opinion.

Just a quick note, I just exchanged emails with another PJ owner I know and he said his PJ's engine has been making alot of engine valve train "noise" and he has changed his oil three times with less than 2,500 gentle miles on that garage queen..he described it like the sound the old tappets slapping used to make in the day..and getting much, much worse by the mile...I told hime he should have popped in a built crate motor like me..lol. Can you imagine what the super shaker might do to these modular oil burning engines..lol.

My valves make the same noise. mostly coming off the throttle. JDM described it as a blow by. I do lose a little bit of power. Suggested Valvoline VR1 oil. Have not yet changed the oil. Usually change mine every 1500 miles. Do not have any oil burning issues.
