Jack the car up by the control arm as close to the wheel and tire as possible.
Wiggle the wheel as many ways as possible.
Next take a long crow bar and pry and lift up between the tire and the pavement

If it's a hub, tie rod, ball joint etc. that should tell you.

It has to be done wit the wheel in the air and the suspension loaded with the weight of the car. That's why the jack has to be as close to possible as under the ball joint.
