Tom's car is a 2005 Mineral Grey S281 SC with a 475HP upgrade, the other car is a 2005 Black S281 SC with the HP upgrade also ( Thank you Carlos)
The Mineral Grey care has been debadged of all logos and even has dark tint on the windshield, These Saleen's are serviced only by our Dealership.

wow! That's pretty neat Tom. I also saw that Adam Sandler has one too! My guess is that Tom Cruise's Saleen was the first Beryllium Orange of the s197's. What dealership are you at? A little off topic from this thread but do you plan to carry the SMS product?

The Beryllium E-car is Dan Riener's car, we just borrowed it for the movie premiere because of the color. I wasn't involved with Adam Sandler's car.
Yes we will have SMS product at Santa Margarita Ford.
Thanks,
Tom

The eBay car is 05-0002. This was a very early Scenic Roof car. This was the SEMA display car from October 2004. This was listed as Steve Saleen's demo for 2005.

05-0001 is a Trilogy Silver coupe. It was a pre-production car with fiberglass bumpers. It was used in numerous press photos for 2005. It was updated with a Scenic Roof and used again for press images when the Scenic Roof became an option in 2006.

Dave hi.... I thought this was the 05 Saleen they used to put the electric glass roof in 2009??
I was told by Steve, Sean, snd Carlos 05-01 was first built and used in sema show of the paint.
05-10 was produced next and the true press car driven by Sean, Molly, and Steve drove it for a month to decide how much tint to put into scenic roof, which I was told my Saleen 05-10 was the first one to get glass roof....? It took them 7 times putting it in & out to fit it.
4-12-07 I pickec up 05-10 & 05-01 was there but sc was not working.

05-0007 was the 2005 Satin Silver "Press Car." This vehicle was seen in Motor Trend as well as Road & Track. This was a 3-Valve coupe.

05-0010 was tagged as being an Executive Demo for Brain Walsh. I do not recall seeing a silver S/C in press material in 2005. If Mr. Walsh did not want the car, use the car, or after its demo duties were over... it would probably be repurposed.

05-0001, the Trilogy Silver coupe was in the Saleen Press kits to debut the 2005 S281 model. After it was retrofitted with a glass roof, it was again used for press images to feature the newly available 2006 model year Scenic Roof option.

05-0001 was not a Press Car, it was a pre-production show car with serialization, but it was the car used in Saleen stock photography of late 2004 and 2005.

Nice! my showroom set up for SMS Mustang show. The Beautiful E-car we shipped to NY for MI3, I was driving that car through Time square after the event, what an amazing vehicle and fun trip.

Not sure if anyone is still looking but 2005-001 is currently listed for sale on Ebay. I faintly remember seeing it for auction previously and it was in very poor shape.

Nice find, Seethrough!

Uh oh. Dave, are you seeing what I am seeing? Remember when we thought all 2005 scenic roof cars were SC'd (or maybe that was just me)? This would be a neat car to own.

Minor detail, I liked this 2005 model best because the detail on the outer edge of the front fascia (the crease that meets the wheel well). My '07 along with all other S281 vehicles were flushed and lacked that small detail.

This car needs some TLC.

The 05-0001 car was a Supercharged model. Late in its life at Saleen the supercharger or engine (or both) developed issues. When the car was returned to FMC, they pulled the engine. Car was repaired, sent to auction without a Series VI.

Was 05-0001 listed a year or two ago as a roller with no engine? I tried finding the thread. It had a leaky roof too?

No. The roof leaks, but it had an engine.

There is also a custom paint styling car the same color. This prototype is nothing more than a body with a pre-production body kit. No suspension, drivetrain, interior, etc.

Once in a lifetime a piece of Automotive history is for sale, and this is the case. If you had a Carrol Shelby prototype what would it be worth? This is a Saleen prototype 00001 It is the actual car that was used at the new 2005 body mock-up and displayed at SEMA in Las Vegas, touring the automotive circuit. It has 1of 1 parts, documented by Saleen and Ford, the process sheet shows a build only for Saleen. THIS CAR HAS NO DRIVE-TRAIN OR INTERIOR, IT IS A ACTUAL PROTOTYPE !!!

If you are into serious collecting, this is it . Call us at 941-927-3733 for complete details, priced to sell fast
