Default Help: Electrical issues after new speakers & Saleen sub

Just installed a Saleen Subwoofer and 4 new 6x8 speakers. Everything worked great for about 30 minutes... I turned the headunit up a little and it lost power. Additionally, the windows will not roll up either. I'm not sure what else is/isn't working. I was curious if anyone had any experience with this before, or knew what to address first

Just figured out it was a blown 5amp accessory fuse... Replaced it and it popped again. Now I have to figure out why. Do any of you know if the power consumption of the sub is too much for head unit to handle?

I don't know how specifically the Saleen sub is wired, but normally you would have a constant power going directly to a power source, a ground and then a trigger wire picking up a switched 0.5 amp from the radio so that when it turns on it tells the internal relay to switch to close turning your accessory on.

So your head unit shouldn't be powering your sub. So if it is there's your problem. My guess is that there a wire shorting out somewhere most likely near the amp on the sub.

Thanks Jason. Where is the easiest point of getting through the firewall to the battery?

What size gauge wire are you going to use?

The wire in the harness looks to be 10awg. It's only a 150w sub, so it should suffice... There's no way to upgrade the cable harness either

I know Rockford says thats the way to power their kit, but we would strongly recommend a better power source then pulling power from the head unit. The gauge of wire is simply just to small for the power requirements of any sub.
