Q: Wolf steering wheel horn switch?
Can some one show me a pic or two of the steering wheel horn button setup?
The horn doesn't work and I don't know what is different on the '85 with the wolf wheel versus the factory wheel. I have one yellow wire that is not hooked up anywhere and only what looks like the contact nubs behind the adapter. I don't see anything that looks like the contact reel.

Gary Alsobrooks may have taken photos of the horn assembly. (Gary passed on.)

I dug around yesterday to find my stock horn button for some pics, and came up empty. I put it somewhere super safe, and forgot where exactly that place was!
Its really basic, two wires only. I'll keep looking.... |

Just found it.
Looks like there is a brown wire on the reverse center of the button, a contact switch. There is also a brass spade connector(male) sticking off the back of the horn button, at the 3 o'clock position. |

I have a yellow wire attached to the back of the button and no wire at all on the spade connector. Where do both wires attach to? So there is no actual contact ring like the factory wheel would have? Because if there is I'm screwed.

The factory column has a grey wire sticking through the Wolf wheel adaptor. Its the one with the female spade connector, and plugs to the back of the button. There are no other wires sticking through the column. The horn button has a steel C-clip around the circumference of the backside of the horn button. I think when the button is depressed, this completes the circuit to ground and activates the horn. Momo horns work similarly.

I have a yellow wire connected to the center of the button but it was not connected to anything and I don't have any gray wires in the column except a 12 ga wire going into the ignition switch.
I have the factory contacts behind the adapter but they aren't touching anything.

Does anyone think that a Grant wheel horn setup will work I the Wolf wheel??
I'm thinking that of they are similar enough that I could make it work.

Quote:
1: I took a Grant "Ford" logo horn button apart and used the emblem in a Momo assembly. 2: If you look at period marketing photos for 1986, you can see the Wolf horn assembly in the 1986 spec Momo steering wheel. |

I need to get my wheel off first and I'm not even sure how. There is no holes to thread bolts into for a steering wheel puller.
I did look at a Grant adapter kit last night and the horn parts may work but I'm not 100 percent sure.

I have everything for the wolf. I'll take pics when I'm back from vacation (about a week). The horn doesn't always work, even with all the correct equipment. It seems like aftermarket wheels are notorious for having difficult horn operation with fox mustangs.

I damaged my original hub that way. Its different than a Momo type. Be really careful you don't tweak the metal hub. You may end up putting on a Momo adapter to keep from distorting the Wolf hub.

A friend of mine had an old Grant kit laying around. We heated up the adapter hub and the epoxy left loose letting me with a perfectly good horn contact ring(the piece I really needed).
I just have to epoxy the Grant contact to the Wolf hub and I should be good to go. (I hope).
