Saleen Extreme 2006 Cannonball Edition informations

I'm looking for all informations that i could found about this special edition. I have to build a press kit for several French cars magazines.
Real numbers of cars built? American newspapers article. Pictures of the race.

I've found a little bit info about the race, but nothing about the real car production of Extreme Cannonball Edition. I'm sure of one thing, all blacks edition are 2007 models, mine is the only one in red.....and 2006 model.

Saleen did not build out the entire run of UBB cars. These vehicles did not have their own serialization numbers. They were grouped with the standard 2007 S281 Extreme model.

Their gold production plate was an identifying marker. Some have Scenic Roofs, others do not. Some still have race graphics, some others do not.

Other than physical paper documentation and the non-Saleen UBB gold plate, I do not know what differentiates these Extremes from the regular production model.

All that i know, is that Saleen modified the tune from 550 to 600 hp, and mine seems to be the one only 2006 model (#03).

I am currently in possession of 07-0053 which is UBB #3. Spoke with Tim Porter on the phone last week trying to verify heritage and was informed that the production run was only 9 cars total, 1 red and 8 black. Still trying to confirm with Speedlab, but if anyone has further info it would also help me. Considering the drastic possibility of listing this car, but want as much documentation as I can get. Hoping that the gentleman from Louisiana who owed the car prior to me may be a member of the forum and chime in........

Hope we can get more. Apparently, Steve had acknowledged verbally that this series Saleen UBB was a real special edition Saleen... Hope i could talk with him next year for the Mustang Anniversary in Las Vegas

One vehicle allegedly was exported to South Africa. I do not believe the Saleen production number for this unit is listed above.

I may also believe the gold serialization plate might be nonsensical. Meaning there may be gold plates with higher numbers than 8 (or 9). I could be mistaken.

I would not expect the Saleen window sticker to reflect the "UBB Edition" status. The 2007 models used for this promotion do not appear to feature any notation on their Saleen price sticker denoting this event or use. No mention of the black finish forged wheels or the warranty canceling HP improvement kit.

Since the 2007 production cars do not feature a public notation, I would doubt Saleen updated your original price sticker for 06-0003.

I expect Saleen to know which cars were associated with the Great American Run and their files notated as such.

Some older images of your 06-0003 Extreme shows the vehicle equipped with the stock 2006-07 S281E rubber air intake hose. Part of the power improvement package was a hard plastic elbow linking the air box to the throttle body.

I saw one of those UBB Saleen's in Pleasanton Ca. The guy was thinking of selling at the time, but I don't know what ever happened to it. He knew a lot about the history of his car.
