Im leaning towards an off road H for my car. It has the stock Borla catback on it now. My car runs fine. I just want to maximize the stock tune since we have 93 gas here. I talked to a tuner a couple weekends ago and he said he tuned a 99 S351 once and it had 2 computers in it. One for all the gauges, car systems, etc. and then 1 computer for the engine itself. Ive never heard that and kind of doubt it personally but Ive never looked on my car to see.

Ya I mean I can't figure it out. Emmissions and my buddys hand held were able to eastablish contact but the 2 tuners and a for dealership no luck. Maybe there is a secondary computer who knows. Hopefully this spring I will get some answers.

On both 99's I have there is only 1 computer. The only guys I know on the east coast who have experience are the guys at Underground racing.

That didnt make much sense to me that there were 2 computers either. I mean you'd have to split up the wiring harness a lot to make it connect up to 2 PCMs as well as finding room for them to fit in the compartment on the passenger footwell where it goes. I talked to Underground Racing one day here a while back and he told me they dont do S351s anymore but he gave me the name and # of a guy that did their cars. This guy himself had a laser red 99 coupe that was for sale on Perf Autos. a couple years ago. It sold and he wished he had it back. This guy is still in the Charlotte area though and told me to stop by if I wanted anything done to mine but I told him I was in AR and it wasnt quite that easy lol. He seemed pretty knowledgeable about them though. He told me to do a powerpipe and a off road pipe and a tune and it would be big improvement over stock. Also, Mark L at Performance Autosport has tuned a few S351s so that would be a viable alternative as well.

More than likely it had a Moates type of computer set in it which piggy-backs on the stock computer and hence it is like having two computers in it but really it is one running everything and one allowing additional control over the stock one. Mine has that set up and is the only way to truly get those S351Rs running right. At least at altitude here in the Rockies it was needed.

BTW Scott, you need to update your signature as I think you are now missing a car on that list Ha! ha! :)

There is a 99 Press car has a center exhaust, #03 or 04?? Gucci owns it. This could be another press car as any number under 10 usually means a special car of some sort. You are correct that the standard 99's did NOT come with center exhaust.

According to the previous owners it came that way from the factory.

jcm: congrats on your 99. We have sister cars, rio red coupes. There were only 3 made too. The third was in Charlotte a couple years ago and turned into a monster, bigger engine and several upgrades but far from original. Id love to see pics of your car. Maybe your car is the one used on the brochure. It shows a red coupe with the center exhaust on it. That would be very unigue.

I will try to take some pics this weekend. I will probably need some help posting pics as I have never done that before. The story goes that the car had the center exhaust installed before the EPA or whoever said no and apparently it left the factory with the option still installed.

Jon it was a pleasure to meet you today. Sorry I couldn't stick around. I think somedays Kevin has the best job in the world. I enjoyed seeing your saleen coupe on the dyno. I live west of richmond about 40 minutes. If that isn't to far I would appreciate the help. Give me a call we can set something up. Cabell 804 814 1955

Working on it. I've got to do some mechanical work to it just to even be able to street it. It hasn't been run in over a year and the gas in it is possibly 2-3 years old. So I have to drop the gas tank and clean out all the varnish/gas, putting in a new 255lph fuel pump, new fuel filter, and a set of new rear tires just to start off with. Then I should be able to give it a nice bath and detail. Right now I only have one pic of it and I haven't moved it out of my garage since it was dropped off from the transport.

Trust me I'm really wanting to see what this thing can do and I've been waiting 3 weeks so far to find out.

Default S351 hibernating

I am around, I visit this site about once a week and I drive the monster a few times a year, since I bought it from the original owner with 9500 miles almost 3 years ago I only put around 1200 miles on it.

Same here, I rarely drive it but when I do I put the pedal to the metal on the highway but gentle on the streets. As of now I am only sticking with the 100 octane racing fuel to fill my tank since it doesn't contain any ethonal or whatever that junk is that's messing up cars fuel systems. It's expensive but I hardly drive it anyway. Plus the cost of the 100 octane keeps me from diving it anyway :-)

Lol, I'd say that you're crazy but I don't blame you at all! Can we see some pics of the black beauty?

Well that’s the hard part of driving the S-351, every time I take it out, every one and their grandmother tries to race me.

Awesome, I'm a huge fan of the laser red! It's a stunning color in sunlight. Next time you get her out on a sunny day, I request a picture!

LOL, it's even funnier when it's an import and then the sound of the supercharger scares them away...

I've tried several times to post pictures but the website always asks for a darn weblink. Don't know how everyone else does it but i'll try again.

Owner... unfortunately not. But I would love to have one of the coveted S-351's! That is the Saleen to have, that's for sure. For now, I will have to just admire from a distance and enjoy my little S-281s. Oh well.

Hi ,

I was like you, I bought and S281 back in 2000 thus the login name (s-281) and waited and waited and saved and as soon as I could buy one I got one, wishing you good luck on your Endeavour stay focused.
