Q: Battery drain? - 2006 S281 SC
I replaced the battery in my 06 in May and after sitting for the past two weeks it would not start. I but a quick charge on it and it fired right up but now the windows pop down when you open the door but they don't pop back up when you close them. Charging system seems to be working fine at least according the gage. It is charging at the normal rate so I question that the battery was actually dead, but there were no interior lights and the radio would not come on. I replaced the battery with an 80 month Motorcraft to match the original one. I tried disconnecting the negative battery terminal and running the windows up and down at least 7 times in row. Fuses in the engine compartment all look good.
Has anyone had a similar problem? Any suggestions where to start looking for the problem? Thanks Rich |

There's a window reset procedure in the owners manual. You could try that.

I have a similar problem with battery drain on my '05. Battery will drain in 2 weeks if I let it sit there.

The car still pulls a bit of power when being stored. We recommend buying a trickle charger and leave them on that when the car gets stored. "Battery Tender" which is what we use will actually provide maint. to the battery whille keeping it stored at 14.4 volts which your car will love.

Was that the year Ford had the battery drain issue if the radio power was left on when the car was turned off? There was something about amps staying on if you didn't physically turn off the radio beofre pulling the key, but I can't remember the years of the Mustangs that were affected.
