CarbonFiber Rear Diffuser
So I got my carbon fiber rear diffuser today and it looks great. Only problem is two sets of the bolt holes next to the exhaust openings are not there as I see on other sets. The seller said the stopped making them that way because people wanted to be able to mount them in different spots, which is wierd to me. Has anyone ever installed these and if so can you give me some tips on how to do it as no instructions where included in this thing.. lol... I downloaded saleens guide which is similar as the diffuse is the same thing, btu I cant get my head around which end to hang first, how to hang it etc. Thanks

I just did this and it took me much longer than I expected. I have since taken it on and off about 4 times just to get it right. I also took it to an exhaust shop to get the tip adjusted since the holes didn't line up with my 2005 exhaust. Anyway, some tips:
1) Get a riv-nut gun. I found a kit at Harbor Frieght for about $15. Included the right size nuts too. 2) Have a friend help. I did it by myself and it was a pain. I used 2" painters tape to hold it in place while I was figuring out how to adjust the diffuser. 3) Since the holes aren't pre-drilled, you can attach the bracket to the car, and put double sided tape on the bottom of the bracket. When you get the diffuser in place, press against the bottom of the brackets so that it sticks. Remove bolt and the brackets will come down with diffuser. Mark the holes and drill. 4) You can do final diffuser installation with brackets attached to the diffuser. You can access the rear bolts with a long extension and use some painter's tape to hold the bolt to the socket to get it place. Good luck! |

Or you could do it the way Saleen originally did and fuse some threaded aluminum blocks to the underside of the diffuser so you don't have to drill any holes and don't see any bolt heads. The hardest part when I did mine was finding the correct spot to drill the hole for the side brackets. I have two of the aftermarket units from the same company and an original one and although the aftermarket company has made changes for the fit they are still not as high a quality as the original Saleen piece. They do have them at a disounted price over what Saleen used to charge but if the originals ever come back I will be spending the extra money to get an original.
