Default Q: Leather seat replacement? - 2005 S281

Hi all and Happy New Year ,

I was wondering if anyone has had the leather seats replaced in their Saleen? Also wondering if there are any good shops in SoCal?

The leather seats in my 05 are pretty immaculate but I have an opportunity to upgrade ...

I've not heard of any replacements, but if yours are immaculate, they will be easy to sell because they are hard to find.

Hey Cory! Thanks for the response . I don't know if my current leather seats will be worth anything once they're removed, wouldn't the removal process damage them?

I was just wondering if anyone has ever had the leather seat skins removed and if so by who? I may give Saleen a call...I'll post back here if I find out anything interesting.

I've had mine removed to repair a metal piece that was about to cause a hole. The side bolsters were so thin one of the tore trying to remove it. The shop replaced the one piece and you really can't tell. But yes, they can be removed and reused.

Thanks Firehead, what did it cost to do the work you had done? It's mainly my drivers seat and side already has the split. Did you have any of the foam replaced? I heard the foam deteriorates as well. I'm noticing little white flakes showing up on the floor. I know I'm not located near you but was interested in finding a local shop.

My interest is due to the fact they are so hard to find, even if some parts need repaired. I want to keep the interior original although there are a lot of other more comfortable options out there. 😀

He only charged me $150. He did add a little piece over the foam to protect against future wear. They can layer that stuff.

Good to know, thank you very much for the info.

I called Saleen and spoke with Jeff in the parts department. He said that Saleen does not do the upholstery in-house but would look into who does it for Saleen. I'll post here once I hear from him.

I don't know who's doing the upholstery for Saleen now. A company called Roadwire did the 05-09 upholstery but told me replacements aren't available. I would guess something to do with licensing.

Your seat covers are 2008 S-series covers with 2005 era S-series headrests.
