Default Rip 86-107

86-107 had an early demise secondary to an electrical defect. Burned up in the backyard in southern CA ~ 1988.

3 door hatch. Black with silver stripes. Grey GT interior. Grey 16" Riken wheels with BFG Comp TAs replacing the General XP2000V. ~18k.

Prior history: Car was in a severe front/passengerside accident and mostly rebuilt. New front air dam, new rear valance. Kaufmann under drive pulleys. Kaufmann Slick Shift fluid.

thread is dead, but i was just browsing seeing if i could find my old saleen. i sold my 86 #21 to "windy city motorsports" in chicago. i loved that car and only sold it because my wife was very ill, and i had to make a choice. i dont regret it, just wanted to see if anyone around had it and was posting pics. no such luck, so from the grave here are some of my 86 pics. (the supercharger was added before i bought it)

86-0021 spent a few years at Windy City Motorsports. They eventually placed the vehicle for sale and did a few rounds on eBay.

These pics were compliments of FEP. Not sure who took them but nice pics nonetheless!

Like mentioned above, 86 verts rarely show up for sale since only 11 were built. When they do pop up they are quite pricey!

Owned one hated it, my 87 feels much tighter.

I did not print the eBay ad. You could contact Windy City to see if they can assist you with details.

You could also run your VIN through a vehicle check report service then do a state title search to find leads to a current location or owner.

Your '86 was "part of the owner's personal collection" and briefly wore a set of 17" Saleen/Speedline wheels. The 4-lug variety sold in the Performance Parts catalog back in the early/mid 1990s.

86-0022 made it after some track time and a new roof and paint.
It's undercover in the garage now waiting to be torn down and redone!

Bought 86-0087 from vector a while back. New stripes, side skirts and front facia. Lots of work has gone into making this one perfect again. Added the blower and meth to go with the heads and cam and am working out the tune now. Still only 15k on the clock. Restored the original Riken's and found an OE Kenwood and speakers to go in. I am also putting a Saleen / Vortech intake on it.

I've got 86-80 gray on gray and earlier this year I ran into 86-180. It was white with blue stripes and in need of a restoration. Both of these are in NH.

Saleen 86-0013

Hello, does anyone happen to know how to get a hold of Ed Callahan (aka: getsumbaby)? I wanted to ask about his Saleen 86-0013.
There's an email on this site he listed but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

Thanks so much,
Steven

Yes it's mine. 22k mi. M81 McLaren (not an ASC) one of nine. Got it running after a 16 year slumber and slowly bringing it back. Next projects are to replace headliner and chase an engine issue that sidelined the car originally. Parts are a little tough to find!

I have 86-0015, same paint scheme. Would love to see 86-0014 and get some build date info off of it. I take it you know the owner?

Default 1986 Red Saleen Convertible

When I first looked at Saleens in 1986, Galleria Ford in Houston TX had a 1986 Red Saleen Convertible on the showroom floor that they claimed had been a Mustang GT convertible that Galleria Ford had shipped to Saleen for conversion.

Would anyone know anything about this car?

Saleen Autosport produced three 1986 Saleen Mustang convertibles in 2R Bright Red. Each were based on GT models. Two had charcoal interior and one had white.

Serials:
86-0040 - Galpin Ford
86-0083 - Galpin Ford
86-0140 - Al Packer Ford

Bringing this thread back... my friend was the original owner of 86-0090 bought new from Al Packer Ford. Is this car accounted for on this forum? I always wondered what happened to it. He traded the Saleen and a 90'Gt in on a new 91' Porsche. I heard the Saleen went to Texas...

Al Packer had a triple white 86' Saleen that he bought new from them. Can anyone account for this one?

Yes, 86-0090 is accounted for. In the hands of Saleen vehicle collectors since the early 1990s.

Holy **** does that bring back memories! I drove that car when I was 16. The original owner was a rich kid who put nitrous on it and 4:10 gears, just to see how far he could burn out with it . It was less than a year old with bumper stickers on it and painted on the lower valence in big letters it said "mean saleen".

Anyway, thanks for your feedback Dave, glad to see it again and know it's in good hands.
