Default Article: Three hot 2015 Mustangs

The Hennessey is pretty sick looking.

Beyond the Mustang: Roush, Saleen and Hennessey tune Ford's new pony

So how are these car's warranties run these days? I know Roush has Ford dealerships around the country that work on their cars and I know Saleen used to have the same. I assume that Saleen will get back into the dealerships as well but what about Hennessey? How do you warranty a highly modified car when you only have one location?

I really like the Hennessey package. To me, it looks like the most value for the money, which is not a phrase normally associated with Hennessey. I want to see one run the Texas Mile and hit 200 mph. Everything else he builds has hit that mark.

The Hennessey Mustang package is sick, but, in the past, there best packages aren't 50 state legal... I know the 302 has a lot left in it, but it would be nice to have 725-750 HP car that is 50 state legal.

The Hennessey package as advertised doesn't have enough power to hit 200 at the mile. You need to be at 1000 rwhp to hit that in a mustang, or seriously improve the aerodynamics.

I believe I am still the only Saleen vehicle to have run the Texas mile. It is awesome.

What was your mile top speed, and what gears are you running in the back?

I ran 157.1 the last time I ran at Goliad. Still running the original Saleen 3.73 gears and a 3.4 pulley(and a few other little things) at the time making aorund 450 rwhp. I do plan to run again with the updated set-up when I can work it out.

Thanks for the info back. Last year I ran 157.2 at Mojave with 4.10 gears. We installed 3.73 gears and can hopefully break 170. Will see if the engine has the torque to break that much air. That Ford GT that ran 278 in Texas was insane.

Gears are just math.. Generally not going to slow you down or speed you up. Only exception would be a boosted car that can't quite get to power band in desired gear for high speed run. They are only seat of the pants add on. A car with 3.73 will feel a ton more torquey than a 3.27 car. But in reality I actually ran quicker and faster in my wife`s 00 gt before gears! Looong time ago but pretty good remembering numbers and I think it was as follows
14.09 @ 100.3
vs
14.13 @ 98.9 with 3.73
I know some will say weather or other variables! But in multiple trips to track after gears I never saw either the ET or MPH numbers I had with stockers..
Felt faster and really that`s about all that mattered to me. But you can`t expect to gain anything with gears. An exception in drag racing would be big end power band or avoiding a shift. As a general rule though it`s just a transfer of power not going to give you any.

Another example. 94gt run 5th gear to the floor was about 136/7 mph at about 3800ish.
If you were in a hurry you could run 4th gear to 139ish. Still didn`t have power to exceed redline. I think it pushed 4th to about 100 under RL. Maybe you guys with 94/95`s can remind me redline was on the 302.

1000rwhp to get to 200? Possibly true in standing mile (accel), thats much harder to calculate, but definitely not in measured mile(top speed). There is bone stock gt500`s (not SS versions) on the web with 188 to 191 speed in 5th not 6th... Darn gearing thing again:)

We will find out shortly since the next event is less than 30 days away. Let me know how you do at the Texas mile. I sure wish Van could get his Shelby SS out this way to run. That team did a great job on that car.

Roush may be hitting car #500 for the 2015 model year soon (or already did). Props to their distribution.

I was told by Hennessey I would have to buy the base Mustang and ship to them for the transformation. This article appears to say otherwise. I just did not like the fact of having to ship the car both ways to them. Not even hearing of the 50 state potential issue living in CA.
