Default 1990-93 Saleen SC

I ran into a guy in San Jose CA, who had a bright red SC, not sure which year, but it had a custom black, leather interior, done by Saleen. It was awesome. He paid a big penny for the car...

Burch Ford sold a bright red 1991 SC with a black leather interior. 91-0016SC.

The above car was updated with the 1987-89/1992-93 rear wing. The BFG car may have been the only bright red SC with this change. Don't know.

From the Greg Wackett media archive.

1993 Saleen Mustang review featuring two updated test models. 91-0001 (93-0002) and what appears to be 90-0012SC.

Magazine was 5.0 Mustang Performance. Related to Mustang & Fords and the later 5.0 Mustang.

So, the 90 SC came with the extra pin stripe around the bottom? #19 has it in the pic above and #15 has it in the Brad Bowling book.

90-0023SC did not feature the lower tape stripe.

Good point. Curious why the other two had it. Hmm. I wonder how many others came with it.

The lower pin stripe was the original plan for 1990 and 1991 SC models.

That makes sense. 90-15SC shows to be the first SC shipped so that might explain it. Anyone have pics of 90-01SC? Is it red?

Ben's car. We have photos. You can also visit the Literature section and view a story in Mustang Times.

http://soec.org/literature/inprint/articles/

I have the old press stories and reviews when 90-0001SC was in the media pool scanned. They are simply not online yet.

Yeah Dave, that looks like the car. #19 wasn't there an owner website for that car? That is a shame...

I believe you may be thinking of 90-0018SC. This one was well used, but eventually restored by Stu Akers.

It was once reported the first customer SC was 90-0011. This was a Bright Red, titanium interior car sent to Beakley Ford. When Beakley took delivery they installed a Paxton supercharger and advertised it in enthusiast publications as being the first available 1990 SC.

Though as you noted, both 90-0014SC & 90-0015SC have ship dates earlier than 90-0011SC.

I thought 90-0014SC was shipped to a dealer and the factory paint was ruined by acid rain. I don't know why I think this.

If my memory is correct, both 90-0011SC and 90-0014SC have cool tu-tone cloth interiors with red piping.

Side note:

93-0017 Supercharged... a "normal" Saleen dressed as an SC... may be confused as 93-0011SC... a car to be said to have been displayed during the 1994 Charlotte Anniversary event. There is no known evidence of a 93-0011SC existing.

Sure would love it if you could come up with ANY pictures of 90-0015 prior to it being posted for sale on Autotrader.

My SC, 91 #13 did not have the lower pinstripes. It also has cloth seats, CD is the only option.

The 1993 Supercharged (93-0017) hatchback that most likely gets confused for a "1993 SC model" 1994 MCA event display vehicle not produced.

Reviving this thread! I noticed 91-SC-11 is not on here. Wondering, how many Black SC's were made?

Hopefully it attached this time..
