Impressive video but yet another painful read on the man. I think some of the editors are either brutally honest or have it out for SS.

Reference: Motor Trend's 2005 Saleen S281 Test.

Wow, tough read but for $60k you would think that they could have at least made all the body work line up. Back end looked like $hit.

Agreed! However, the test vehicle has an MSRP of $75,456. Motor Trend mentioned there were options when paying that much for a vehicle. What options, you may ask? That price is consistent with a base 911 Carrera, an optioned out M3, and the '10 Shelby Supersnake.

i would take the SMS Challenger over a M3 as suggested in the video. To me the M3 is a "me too" car

Same comments were said when comparing a 2006-07 S281 Extreme to a then new 2007 GT500. "The GT500 costs less, quicker, Ford builds it & has a better warranty." Some in the market said the same about the 2007 S302 PJ as well. "Costs more than a GT500 & not as fast!" Eh, buy what ya' like.

Quality is a bummer. One would like to think a vehicle going into the press pool would have been through a more detailed process of reassembly. The only side thought, if this vehicle was a 570X downgraded to a 570 with some engineering and development history... might have been built, dismantled and rebuild a few times.

"Associate Editor Scott Evans is out at the Motor Trend test track to find out how fast the all-new 2010 SMS 570 Challenger is."

That was a brutal article. Some of the complaints I can see, but whats up with the hood gap and the "facing downward" exhaust clamps? This is common sense even for a non-car enthusiast, and should never pass QC.

I would imagine the hood and exhaust might have been removed/dropped for the engine swap. The article makes it seem this vehicle went from a 570X to a 570.

I’m not sure if I like this car or not. Seems a little big or heavy looking for me. I’m in no hurry to run out and order one. You guys may think I’m nuts but I still like my car better. (04 Saleen convertible) I just have a lot of fun with my car. Number 1 is I like convertibles and I don’t see this car as a convertible unless you want to spend big money. Number 2 is I just like the mustang body style better. I think one of the best looking cars on the road is the 1999-2004 Saleen mustangs hands down. I try to drive my car whenever I get a chance. My wife and I enjoy taking the car for a ride around the lake at night with the top down just enjoying the night air.

If memory serves me correct, I believe the Dodge Challenger has the same size wheelbase as the last generation Chevrolet Caprice/ Impala SS. Its a big "pony car."

They are different cars for different people. One thing I came away with after driving my PJ S197 base Mustang 250(?) miles to Ford Carlisle (and 250 miles back)... I don't want to drive or ride in a Fox based Mustang for a 250+ mile trip anymore. Maybe I'm getting old.

That's the great things about mustangs and saleens, depending on when you grew up, etc. Everyone has a year that's speacial to them, that they think is best looking. I love all the saleen and sms cars because I am a diehard fan. I saw a lot of fox saleens as a kid which had a huge impact on me.Then they released the ssc, it all all over from then on.
