It was just the shell and I think it went to Troy facility when they shipped all the press cars/display cars over there. within the last month or so of the Irvine facility.

I don't know where it is right now, but sort of off topic there is a video on youtube of Jay Leno with a Grand National doing a burnout contest with Tim Allen in one of these SCCA cars. Very cool indeed.

Wish I could find more in-action videos of these Team Saleen cars...Love the way they sound!

Does anyone have any info about the engines/transmission/supercharger that was used on that Saleen race car above? (Tim Allen's Saleen vs. Jay Leno's Turbo Buick)

The early World Challenge SRs (like above) might be powered by an EFI 351cid small block featuring a Vortech supercharger.

A competition junkie should know more... or I could look for some papers/notes on these vehicles.

Reason I ask is because the Saleen used by Tim Allen in that video sounds a little more rowdy than a street spec'd 351W/S-Trim S351.

Love the way it sounds!

Hate to point the obvious out here... but it is Tim Allen. lol He probably has done a little bit to the car personally (or had it done).

Contact Jess Albright.

Also, Spring Hebler may be able to tell you if the vehicle went to MI or was unloaded in CA before the move.

It may have been sold during the Fairbanks dismantling, if I recall correctly... Spring might know, and I'll put a shout out to her. Jared C. or Carlos or a few other people also should know.

This "race-like" car is in the lobby at Steve Saleen's SMS Supercars... this one is known as "Christine."

Spring says she doesn't know... that was before her time.

Ron told her that it was once at Speedway Cafe restaurant in the Irvine Spectrum shopping center, which I think I remember. After the restaurant closed down it went somewhere else, which would have been prior to say September 2006. It may even have been sent to another Speedway Cafe, and disappeared after that.

Thanks for all the replies and info. Thanks for all the names and leads. But where do I contact these people at? Are they forum members on here? I would seriously like to purchase the car if I can find it.

Thanks again

Brent;

I do know where these cars and all the original Saleen Race cars and their present owners are located. Unfortunately I can not put you in touch with them until after the New Year. They are quite tied up before then and I can't go into details unfortunately. Most are personal friends of mine over all these years. The other unfortunate thing is the GT-2 cars from LeMans have been painted other colors now for other race series since and you, nor I would even recognize them. So is the life of a race car. you cna e-mail me at colosaleen@comcast.net and when the time is right, I will see about helping you out.

Rick

Rick,

Thank you very much for your help, I have sent you an email. And yes many of the cars have been repainted, as were some of the spoilers changed. I do have some pics of them and I figured it would be worth sharing.

E-mail receive and some information returned Brent. Not sure if you or anyone has alot of that specific race history. I have a lot of that info tucked away but that should hold you over for now. :)

BTW Everyone knows the Rainbow SR will be mine someday. The present pwner just needs to come back to earth off cloud nine in his present asking price. Ha! Ha!

I ran across an old email and the "Speedway Cafe" prop was at Fairbanks as late as early September 2008, and I believe it was sold by that time but still onsite.

I guess our memory's slipping.

I actually found a photo I took at Fairbanks in early August 2008, which also shows that it was getting to be a sad state of affairs as they closed down.

That's one of the actual race cars. I believe the op is looking for a display car that didn't have a powertrain in it and was always just a straight axle roller.

Cobra427 posted a link to a world challenge car. the one in the pics I've posted is a GT2 widebody. wether it was a true race car a one point or not, I'm not sure. the pics I've posted are of it as a display car,no brakes, stcick axles, etc, show purpose only.

The one he posted had a powertrain in it. I ran and moved under its own power. If you read the link it has pics of the engine bay with a motor in it.

Well, sorry I though that was the car you were looking for. I don't know where you would find a display car like that. You should contact Saleen Inc. maybe it is still around, but with the tranfer of the Company it may have been lost or sold off. Anyway Good Luck.

No worries man. I have called saleen 2 weeks ago, emailed pics and talked to someone. But now, no return calls,no response to emails. I have tried calling a couple times, left that person voice mails to see if what I gave was enough information, 2 weeks later still no return calls. Now I cant even get a hold of the person I talked to on the phone prior. Is this how saleen usually is? if so its annoying and horrible customer service. When I called the first time it was great. Was told they would look into it and see what they can dig up. But nothing now, like I said, wont even return a phone call after leaving 2 voice mails the last 2 weeks.

No one currently at Saleen worked in the Irvine facility when this chassis left the grounds.

Also, as stated before. There is a greater than 50% chance, this was not a real vehicle. More like a full-size model car.
