Default First SMS Supercar in "Molly Pop" Delivered to Ringgold Dodge in Georgia

The first SMS Supercar in custom color "Molly Pop" has been produced and shipped to Ringgold Dodge in Ringgold, Georgia.

The photos below were taken on January 27, 2010, on Molly's birthday at SMS Supercars' facility in Corona, California...

The Molly Pop 570X. The paint job was amazing...

The complementary pinstripes on the doors and dash of the SMS Supercars are a nice touch...

She's almost done... getting ready for a photo shoot tomorrow...

The SMS 570 and 570X line in the main building of the SMS campus...

More of the 570 and 570X line...

That is one sweet Challenger! thanks for the pics of the SMS facility; looks VERY impressive! I would however opt for the silver car shown in the background next to the yellow sign!

on my way to surf this morning I happened upon the delivery of a red 570X here in Redondo Beach. He saw the car at LA Auto Show and was sold! I hung out for a bit and got to chat w/ the new owner. I even waited to see him return from his first spin, smiles ear to ear. I'm glad to see an SMS vehicle in the area, hpoefully more to come....

Default Seriously? Fuschia?

Is this dodge's idea of competing with SMS? Let me explain, although it's obviously not in direct competition with the highly modded SMS Challenger, I find it more than coincidental that the color of the Challenger is similar to Mollypop Pink.

The first production MollyPop vehicle was hit with a Tornado.

The Color of this 2010 Challenger is a one of a kind MollyPop Pink. 6.4L V* Hemi Engine 700HP, SMS 296 Super Charger. Like has been said this is a one of a knid collectors 2010 Dodge Charger SMS. MSRP for this vehicle is $118,076. Forged Aluminum Pistons, Forged Steel Crankshaft, Forged Steel Connecting Rods, CNC Ported Aluminum Cylinder Heads, High performance Vale Springs and Canshaft, High Performance Calibration, High Performance Ait Filter, 85mm Throttle Body, High Performance Dual Exhaust, High Performance Mufflers, Polished Stainless Steel Exhaust Tips, 6-speed Short Throw Tremec, manual Transmission, High Performance Clutch, 3.73 Axle Ratio, Anti-Spin Differential, 625 AMP Maintenance Free Battery.

This vehicle has been sitting in the show room floor of Ringgold Chrysler Dodge Jeep. On April 28 2011 a F4 Tornado came through the city of Ringgold and completly destoyed the small town. The 2010 Dodge Challenger was spared with minimum damage. The car has small scatches on the drivers side and a dent in the drivers side front fender. We have reduced the price of the car from what the insurance has offered and want to sell as is with warranty. We do not and will not fix any body damage. Remember this is a collectors car even with the damage.

I always wondered about this color.

To be honest, the front bumper on my rainbow was repaired and completely repainted. One would know if I didn't tell them. Then again, it is multiple colors so possibly it is slightly easier than a single, custom and difficult color--if that makes any sense.

But it sucks to see that happen to a new car, but they are fortunate it was not a total loss...

I'm sorry, $85k for a car with a dent? Why on earth wouldn't they fix the damage? Campbell Ford went to great lengths and expense to put a badly wrecked S302E back on the road, I don't quite get why this dealer wouldn't repair this car first - unless there is more damage than meets the eye, and they are hoping the buyer won't notice?

Chris.

Thats the problem with custom colors like this, a dealer would have to suck up serious costs to get it painted seemlessly, and outside of getting the paint from the OEM (and who-ever they got it from.. BASF) only a pro custom paintshop could do the job, certainly not the standard shop.

BUT thats often the price of purchasing unique, and when it comes to saleens most people still think on the order or a normal car when repair work needs to be done. Its very different, often time consuming and fustrating.

With saleens, you often have to have the mindset of exotic supercar. cause to be honest, when repair shops or dealers go over your ride KNOWing its special, theyre rarely gonna charge you standard OEM rates. it sucks but its more than often true.

most likely the dealer is hoping to take a few bucks off for the damage like $300.00. person buying the is going to either going to be fine with the damage and not repair it or bring it to a shop and find out that its going to cost 800 to get it repaired. the dealers saved money for not making the repair and the car got sold. thats how they look at it. when i was selling cars in college i sold a new 03 cobra and the tip of the right fender had no paint but had clear on it. about an inch big. the manager at the time and real jerk tired to tell the guy not to get it fixed because it came from the factory like that. he did not want to take money out of the deal to get fixed. it almost killed the deal and i was ****ed. he told the guy he would take a 100 bucks off. i was like come on . fix the fender. went to my aunt and uncle who owner the dealership and they got the fender fixed.

Actually, chameleons surprisingly blend fairly easily, from my experience. Then again, somebody apparently did have issues with the front bumper and hood repaint on the Mustang pictured below.

What you are actually seeing is a photography/lighting effect.

The hood and bumper of Molly's #07-01 SC were indeed repainted after the Great American Run, but the fender was not painted or blended in. Though the paint does not match that well, that's not what you're seeing in the photo.

Plus the Molly Pop is not a "chameleon" paint if I recall correctly.

Sometimes the flex additive for plastic parts such as bumpers can give certain colors a different hugh which might be an explanation. But I know what you are saying my wife bought one of the new synergy green camaros and from different angles the lighting makes that color look different.

other forums are asking what we will take for the car so ill post the same thing here. $60,000 firm will buy this car. full factory warranty remains and SMS warranty remains since the car is still new. we do take trades and will deliver the car to your front door in our own enclosed trailer.

He's not laughing at you. The poster owns an 2011 SMS/Saleen 302 with a valid warranty and is having trouble with Saleen contacting him regarding a rotor problem.

There in the inference that if someone buys your 570X, any necessary repairs will come out of your pocket or the new owner.

when you pay good money for a car and it's comes with a warranty you expect the company to stand by it.

I would hope that it has a paint warranty with a paint job like that, past years with the Molly Pop color had issues.

There are only two MollyPop Saleen vehicles. This 570X and Molly's personal 2007 S281 S/C. Molly had the bumper and hood of her S281 repainted after the Great American Run.

All Saleen custom colors fade if seen sunlight for an extended period of time. Since 1999.

I believe you need to go through your dealer, but I'll have someone else at Saleen clarify that for you.

Molly's hood simply wasn't repainted right, and it never got re-done.

I think the newer paints are less likely to fade as the processes and formulas have changed.

Oh I know it isn't a chameleon, I think I was trying to reference the above quote from ExtrmRnbw when I mentioned blending chameleons, but messed up. Mollypop looks more like a tri-stage candy, or possibly candy base coat.

I agree that the color being off is likely due to the camera, but a camera doesn't put things in there that do not exist- but it can easily amplify what might not be easily picked up by the untrained naked eye. Looks like the color was close, but enough to throw off the metamerism at the angle the pic was taken. Your eye would naturally be attracted to the seam where the body panels meet, which is why blending is so important anyway. I have seen some cars that looked fantastic... spot on color match. And yet when you take off the fuel door and hold it to the front fender, the colors are very much off.

Incidentally, sorry for the late reply.
