Default Q: Replacement shocks / axle damper?

Anyone who has replaced their shocks did you replace the axle damper at the same time and if so did you use the Bilstein one? Mine didn't have a Bilstein axle damper to begin with.

I might be wrong but I believe the small shock (axel damper) was left original from Ford and not upgraded from Saleen. But I read that some people have swapped in a Bilstein and felt an improvement in the ride. I plan to replace mine with a Bilstein very soon.

The Bilstein quad shocks are better than stock.

No, mine has been through several owners. Seventeen years old and 150,000 miles.

It was left as an original.

And at 150,000 miles I bet the original is completely dead. When I removed mine it couldn't even support it's own weight.

Be prepared the bilsten takes some strength to compress while in place. I gave up after a few minutes and decided it was easier to compress it with a ratchet strap, install, then just cut the strap off.

Replaced the fronts and rear 3rd shock with Bilstein 4600's Replaced the rear ARC shocks with new Ford OEM ones since still use the rear ARC.

Night and day improvement in the ride of the truck
