I agree. My aeroforce gauge showed 135 intake temp after parking it for 1/2 hr I turned on the pump and checked the water temp of the coolant flowing through the bottle & it was luke warm at best ( couldn't find a thermometer) The water temp is a lot lower than the intake temp so it would have to get pretty hot to boil over or something else is going on.

Todd, keep in mind his heat is unlike most places. Even though it maybe 105, it feels like 115 and any surface radiates the heat. We had a car in the shop and the back half was hanging out the door, my thermal gauge read 147 and it was only 95 outside. Just some food for thought. I still think he should have his shop do some serious testing. His pump may be failing at high temps....who knows.

I wonder what is engine water temp was. That would definititly cause the car not to start.

I totally agree with you on that one. The problem lies that your factory gauge runs under a "Operating Range" vs. actual temp. Phoey.

Yeah, I agree with Jason. I think it needs a thorough going thru by the shop. Just an exam to make sure there are no issues.

Then again to Jason's point about Afro. I agree you need the big one with fans if your getting the temps and conditions described

Comic relief..love it...
Another day of high heat and no issues. Did put the extra gasket on just in case. I think it is a good idea to have the shop do a once over on it. I am at 1300 miles now.

Thanks all for the input!

So battling another gremlin...my boost gauge normally reads arround 2 psi, recently it bounces around erratically mostlly hitting the pin stop below 0 psi. It seems to work fine under boost. I have checked all the wiring.
Is this something I should be worried about? I was thinking that there might be a short somewhere or possibly a vacuum leak causing it to bounce?

Is it the Saleen gauge? They are junk, mine sits at 2 psi when not in boost. It does not jump around erratically tho.

Its either a bad gauge or a bad sending unit.

Interesting read. About to get started on my build and this thread made me a little sick to my stomach. I also unloaded a rod or two just recently. I knew I was on borrowed time and was looking forward to a build. Now....not so much. lol

With the right shop it goes by much easier. Nothing is painless when rebuilding a motor but we like to think our process is pretty streamlined but we're not the cheapest and sometimes cheap needs to be the priority and then in the end it's not cheaper or you end up pulling your hair out chasing issues.

The old saying goes...."you get what you pay for"

Hind sight being 20/20 I wish I would have just shipped it to you Jason. It took me 6 months to work out all the bugs which I know would have been taken care of before it left your shop. I should have listened to you...

Love my shop. Only thing he does is eat and breathe ponies. Very familiar with forced induction. Started his days on the straights and now does NASA. He is very knowledgeable and wont put his name on just anything. Pretty sure when the motor comes apart the SC is going to Jason. I have 34k on the clock so might as well check everything. What happened to the stocker was all on me. 492rwhp an no wideband equals detonation.......cabloom!

Im going 5.0 stroker, Aluminum, 0 miles, ARP everything, forged, ported heads, new TB, new radiator, mosaleen, headers and mid pipe, and of course wideband.

This thread is the exact reason why I will never do any engine "upgrades". I am plenty happy daily driving and open track racing at the power level my stock "475hp" Saleen has. No headaches. No money pits. No frustrations. Just turn the car on and go. The only "engine mod" is an AFCO to help keep temps down.

I couldnt agree with you more. We always coach our customers to do cooling, fuel, suspension, chassis and weight distribution and weight savings. The 475hp setup with a few simple bolt ons CAN be a very fun, fast and reliable car.

I backed mine down last year from 580 hp to about 530 hp with a bigger pulley, 3.2 to a 3.4. I still have the smaller pulley and tunes if I want to race, but for just cruising around town and car shows I have a 3.4 pulley. I also upgraded cooling HE and pump and fuel system to keep everything safe as can be.
