Thumbs up Steve Saleen Special Event, April 30: The S7

Presented by Family Classic Cars and co-sponsored by Saleen Owners and Enthusiasts Club/SMS Superclub
Steve Saleen, the visionary car producer and race driver, has earned quite the resume for developing sophisticated high performance and race-bred vehicles with American horsepower. In addition to many years of building the Saleen brand, and now SMS muscle cars, Steve achieved his dream to build an American supercar (Saleen S7) for the street, and a race version (Saleen S7R) that would represent, and gain racing prestige for America in Europe, including LeMans.

The Saleen S7R in the Family Classic Cars showroom (chassis No. 00067) has quite a race provenance, with 9 (Nine!) podium finishes and as the overall winner of the French LeMans series in 2007.

We offer a very special occasion: Steve Saleen has graciously agreed to speak about the original Saleen concept, the cars, and the racing success of the S7R's including 00067. He hinted that there may be a peek at latest offerings from SMS, too.

Please join us as we extend a special invitation to SOEC Members and forum participants who wish to hear Steve speak about his racing career, the development of the S7 and the racing history of the S7R, as well as a little about SMS Supercars and the future S8.

I don’t know if we have the assets, but do you think that this could be digitally recorded and available for members that can’t make it? I would really like to hear the stories.

Ditto !! WTF !! - Can Texas get some love ? LOL - What I wouldn't give to see a Population Density Map of the US and see where the most dense group of Saleen Owners reside in. Come on Steve it's ok to get some of the Texas Humidity every now and then

I have a event I'm putting on the next day so. i'm out... A video would be a great source of revenue for the club. Something to think about... Would be a great source for a future museum interest too...

Try living on the other coast. I can't figure out how the most restrictive state for cars gets the most car related events.

Haha. Your comment made me laugh. It does seem like an oxymoron. However: Weather? The California Dream? oh and yes, Hollywood.

The cost of living here makes all those obsolete. I could never permanently reside in this state.

I'm confused, does SPV own the current S7 program and remaining race teams or does Steve? At open house he mentioned eventually embarking on the next gen. S8 mission!

Hancock Park still owns the S7. The S7 program is considered an asset and will figure into the Saleen Inc bankruptcy.

Revstone Performance Vehicles/GPV/SPV/MJA did not purchase the S7.

It was a nice, intimate event with Saleen owners and enthusiasts, and special guests of Family Classic Cars. A nice reception with hors d'ouvres and refreshments followed, including an autograph session for both Saleen Mustang, Focus and S7 owners who traveled from as far away as Northern California.

I'll try to get some photos online soon, but sometimes you just have to be there. :~)

SOEC Members were invited to an intimate dinner with Steve, Liz and the Grandkids afterwards in nearby historic San Juan Capistrano.

The presentation was really a warmup to an event to be held on Saturday, July 9 at the Petersen Automotive Museum, where Steve will again speak on the S7.

The Petersen event will be $15 and will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (more details to be announced).

As Dave said, we likely will not release the video from the April 30 event, but we do plan to release a transcript or excerpts of the two events combined.

Oh, and no S7 race teams were owned by Saleen -- they often did get support from Saleen, but none were factory owned.
