Default Grabber Blue Heritage Edition

Video of a Custom Color Heritage Edition coupe. Video narrator calls it a 2009... but by most accounts the model was dropped after 2008. Excluding the 2009 Dark Horse and failed plan to finish the DG Series using 2009s.

Interesting car! There's a 2008 Grabber Green Heritage Edition 302 S/C in around Florida (I think).

Wonder why it's got a SC hood on it? Unless they swapped the Saleen SC for a Super Shaker?? Interesting indeed.

From my understanding the 2008 Heritage 302 3-Valve received the N/A hood and shaker like the 2007 Saleen/PJ.

If your order the 2008 Heritage 302 S/C, you deleted the shaker and related hood for an S louvered hood and decal treatment.

Other small differences were the 3-Valves receiving the quad tailpipes and silver 5-star wheels while the 302 S/C received the baloney cut PJ tips and silver PJ mini-lite style wheels as standard. If one ordered the chrome wheels on an 302 S/C the PJ wheels where then deleted and the 5-stars appeared.

Above info subject to change.

The interesting thing about the GB car is... if it's a 2008 it's been retrofitted with the SuperShaker. If it's a 2009 chassis... then ASC/Saleen or Saleen PV did a "special build," if it's serialized. The shaker is still considered an after-the-fact part since ASC/Saleen skipped the certification process.

Exactly my point. Since the 3V already had a shaker hood ala PJ (kinda like my Heritage), then why does this one have a hood that has the vents like a 302 S/C?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Correct... a 3-Valve SuperShaker retrofit would already have the PJ shaker hood (large hole) to use.

If this car was a factory 302 S/C though... it has the correct vented S hood. They cut a hole in the correct slick vented hood to change the induction to SuperShaker.

Since the car appears to have the PJ exhaust tips... I would guess this is not a 3-Valve that had a S/C added with the Shaker... but an S/C with the induction changed.

Then too... look what Bob M. did to his 2007 Heritage 281. The Saleen sales spec cards cry in confusion.

Maybe the GB car got a touch of Speedlab.

SCMcQueen had his Heritage modified at Troy and added the SC hood.

The SC hood is the "wrong" hood for a Heritage according to Phil Frank.

(no offense to Bob/SCMcQueen -- I just thought it was funny the way Phil told me that. )

For what its worth.......I got a real good idea where that picture was taken. that sure looks as if it was taken in the parking lot on the west side of the (old) Saleen, Troy Facility. The other thing is that Ford did not offer Grabber Blue on their 2008 model year cars...I know Shelby had a bunch of 2009.....and of coarse its on the 2010's. Since its not a 2010... it has to be a 2009 model year car

ASC/Saleen offered the 1970 Mustang Grabber Colors as a custom paint option for the 2008 Heritage Edition.

This is an 08, H302SC that has the SuperShaker put on it and a Grabber Blue Paint job. Bumper #03. Was a press/fleet vehicle (dark candy apple red), now owned by collector from Houston area and he wanted the Grabber Blue paint option added.

As far as it not being the right hood for the car, as far as I know that hood was made for the 05-09 S197 Mustang which this is. So from what I can tell it's the right hood for the car!!!!

Thank you
Jess

I guess my humor didn't translate in typing...

"It's not the right hood," meaning it's not a Heritage series hood, as olcoot pointed out.

Personalization of Mustangs, or any car for that matter, is expected. Sometimes it just confuses us who try to remember what the actual factory options were.

As Jess indicated in 2008 Saleen offered the color as on option on the H302.

From the dealer guide for the H302:

1969/1970 Heritage Color Palate: $16,000.00

Aaaah... olcoot has a 3-Valve, and SCMcqueen upgraded his 3-valve to SC specs... I remember now.

Thanks for the clarification, Jess!

It's tough getting old -- I think my brain needs some grease.

To add to what Greg said, the Grabber Blue was specified -- and even shown on -- the spec brochures for 2008....

(scroll down the page)

And I did get clarification from designer Phil Frank, who told me there was never any intention to mix the S-series and H-series designs. In the timeline historically, that decision was done after Phil had left, and probably Steve too. So that explains why the S-series supercharged hood on an H-series car is the wrong hood -- it's from his perspective of having been the original designer.

So there's some trivia for you guys.

Keep in mind that a lot of decisions were made after May 2007 that were made strictly by sales staff or people who had no idea of (or respect for) the heritage of the company, or why some things were simply done or not done.... much like it was someone's brilliant idea to put a "06" on the bumper of the Dark Horse press car in late 2008.

I will say a Grabber Blue "BOSS" undoubtedly turns heads. I'd love to see it in person.
