Default Q: Availability of Black Chrome 5 spokes?

Does anyone know if Saleen plans to market the black chrome 5 spoke wheels like the ones on S351 #13-001? Jim? Dave? Thanks.

The wheels are produced by Boss Motorsports and the Series is 328. The come in PVD chrome, PVD black chrome, and straight black.

Call Saleen. They should have both the chrome and black chrome in-stock. All four wheels are 20x8.5.

Thanks Dave. I was hoping they had a staggered combo. I'm assuming the offsets would fit an '05 - '09 Saleen.

Keep in mine that these wheels are actually dipped and not true chrome. The wheels on the 351 are not staggered widths; they did not have the staggered wheels until the 30th Anniversary car was built. I was also under the impression that the production wheels and the Anniversary wheels were slightly different. However; those black wheels are amazing!

The 30th Anniversary wheels are the forged 5-spoke variety offered from 2007 through 2009 with a new center cap design for 2014.

20x9 front and 20x10 rear.

John,

To clarify on your "dipped" comment -- technically they're PVD, as Dave mentioned, which is an acronym for Physical Vapor Deposition. They're done in a vacuum chamber.

So yes, it's not true chrome plate, but they're not dipped, either, as it's a powder coat-like process.

True chrome plating is dipped, of course.

The important thing to note is that you take care of them like you would any clearcoated factory wheel; in other words, treat them like they are painted.

One advantage to PVD is the lower cost, it's "green," and it's lighter-weight than chrome plating. It comes really close to the look of chrome plating, without some of the disadvantages of chrome plating. Ford, Chrysler, Lexus and GM are all using PVD coatings among their wheel offerings.
