Question Q: Replacement insert for 2010 shift knob? - Discolored & chipping

So my $150 Saleen shift knob looks terrible after only 10,000 miles on it. Is there anywhere where I can buy the replacement black top piece. It makes the car look terrible inside!

This is the 2010 knob. When did you purchase it and from where?

I love that shifter knob but I have never seen them for less than $125+. Little too much for a shifter knob, IMO.

It was in a pouch when I purchased the car last year and was brand new. Nut sure where the original owner purchased it from. I'm willing to buy just the top piece if I could find it, honestly for $150 this shift knob looking like this is terrible.

Thanks Dave, I will let you know what happens. I think I may have to just bite the bullet on this one and go with an aftermarket knob.

I have one and yet to experience this. I also try not to let my hand sit on top of the knob. Hopefully this doesn't happen to mine.

It looks like the clear may have not been applied right or there is a possibility with the super humid climate you live in that the sweat from your hand ate the paint off. Either way if you haven't gotten any help with the replacement piece let me know and I'll see what strings are possible to be pulled.

Thanks Jason, I think I'm going to call this one a lost cause and look into going with an aftermarket shift knob. Sad that they do not sell the top pieces separately :(

It's not that they wouldn't, it's that they haven't made that knob in a long time and I don't think they got any extra plates. I'm inquiring for you. Hang tight for a minute.

To bad Grabber Pony knobs aren't available anymore.... They were freaking sweet. If it were me, I would go with a weighted knob from TWM: http://www.twmshiftknobs.com/. They can be pricey though.

I believe as I type this note, there are four variations of 2010-2014 shift knobs.

4? Wow... Are there different variations of where "Reverse" is on the top insert?

Make this five, then.

1: Shaft style SMS knob (2010-13)
2: MJA 5-speed knob (2010)
3: MJA 6-speed knob (2011-12)
4: MJA-style knob with large S logo and no shift pattern (2013-14)
5: Shaft style SMS knob with round S logo button logo on top. (2014)
5b: Shaft style SMS knob with round 30th Anniversary button logo on top. (2014)
