Default Q: Driver side oil separator? - 2007 S281 SC

Is there one manufacture that you like over others? Maybe one that fits better, etc? I've read about the JLT's although on their website it says something about buying the base kit and making your own? Can anyone provide pictures on how yours look? I am looking for driver side only. I'm concerned that the separator will not sit level and at a slight angle, so that makes me a little uneasy as to leaks or just my OCD kicking in because I'd rather have it level and no angle. Not looking to spend anymore than the JLT is for $119 and would like it to be easy setup along with access to dump when needed. Don't want to have to keep disconnecting clamps, hoses, etc.

Let me know what you all did and if any pictures that would be awesome.

Thank you

I don't have one on my car; but I'm also considering adding one. From the research that I've done, I'm leaning towards this one:

In that list you have limited to choose from for the drivers side and no mention of "Saleen" that I noticed.

Anyone of the cans on this page will work great. The hose inlet/outlet diameter is much larger on these cans. That means the air is not moving as fast and more oil droplets can be captured. Also these cans have allot more filtering than the others.

I'm pretty sure that the GT500 ones will fit the Saleen SC. I was going to call or email to see if they fit and can order driver side only; or if the passenger side GT500 ones will also work on the Saleen driver side. I'm thinking they should. The mounting bracket looks like it will work on either strut tower. The ones 06SaleenExtreme listed are also great. Not sure if you need both driver and passenger side, or if one side is preferable over another. You usually see them on the driver side.

Hi Sid,

I had seperators on both sides. I got zero oil reclaim on the passenger side.. I now just run the one on the drivers side.

I went with the Moroso, drivers side only. I had one on the passenger side, didn't collect anything with it.

For most applications, we recommend the Moroso unit. We find that for the price point, and ease of installation it is about the best on the market. A custom catch can is always idea, but not practical for most cars. The Moroso kit utilizes a baffles style system that traps 90+% of oil vs. the mesh types like JLT that miss most of the vapors/oil passing by. The Moroso also has a petcock at the bottom to drain the tank with ease.

Here is the link to the one we use: http://www.281motorsports.com/index....c80f86e097288c

Our custom built Catch Can cylinder on the bottom right.

It all boils down to you get what you pay for. The 42 draft design you will find has a far superior filtering process. The larger diameter hose fittings, were found to reduce the speed of air traveling through the can to capture more oil. This part is well worth the extra investment.

I am also leaning toward the Bob's based on what I've seen. I talked to them awhile back. They suggested the GT500 driver's side and said it comes with 6ft of hose so mounting location is pretty flexible. Those 42 Draft designs look pretty good too.

At first, I was considering the JLT separator, however after reading over some of the posts about the Moroso trapping 90% of oil vapors over the JLT's mesh design, I've now decided to go with the Moroso oil separator instead

One that looks good but doesn't provide any support.
