Default Q's: Historical and trivia details?

I, like many others on this sub-forum, got interested in Saleens when 87 Fox Bodies were coming out. The 89 SSC was, and still is, a holy grail of my teen aged years.

I went off to college about the time of Saleen's Fox Body decline around 90/91. From reading on here I discovered that Saleen's production moved to Cars & Concepts (??? I keep seeing it referred to as C&C and I've only found one post referencing what C&C means) in St Louis?! Googling Cars & Concepts St Louis doesn't return any results. Can somebody fill me in on the history here, such as why production moved out of California where Saleen has always been headquartered?

Secondly... I'm hoping for some clarification if this next bit is urban legend or not. I know Saleen's have always been serialized with the number on the bumper, the engine bay plaque, and the shifter plaque. I read somewhere, many moons ago, that the serial number is also placed somewhere not readily visible and read that maybe there's a serial number stamped on the k-member or some other underside location. Since I have yet to own a real Saleen (but am in the process of buying one right now) I'm curious if this last bit has any validity or not.

Thanks all.

Our SSC has the rear end stamped. Yes its is also stamped on the "frame", however I cant off hand remember where. I was looking recently when detailing the underside, couldnt find it, but also was focused on other things. I recall seeing it in the past.

Cant help on production history.

So the history there stops around 2009. What is Steve's alignment with his namesake company now-a-days?

Just bumping this part to see if any has any intel as to whether this is urban legend or not? Since this post I've acquired 89-0436. I've looked all under the chassis and haven't see a "436" anywhere readily visible.

As a side note I had to remove my back seat to do some service recently and noticed the serial number for my car was painted on the underside of the rear seat cushion.

Hi. Rear frame rail and front K member are stamped.

I do not recall which frame rail had the stamp. The stamp switched sides after 1987, I think.

I'll be out there with a flashlight looking closer in those areas. Thanks!
