Help: Random misfire - 1999 S281 SC
Got a 99 SC281 and am dealing with a random misfire trouble code. Spark plugs only have 2K miles, COPs are not after market. Any suggestions? I am going to look at a couple plugs, but don't understand why they would only last 2K miles.

How is it running and how many miles on the coils?

It runs OK. The car only has 24K miles. Mechanic I am working with seems to think the problem is the crank shaft position sensor or the tone ring. Computer is showing massive amount of misfires which can't be correct.

I was getting codes P0340 (Camshaft Position Sensor circuit fault) and P0300 (random misfire) on my 99 this week. Everything I found online said to check the alternator for a bad diode. That's exactly what it ended up being.
