Took my S281 SC to the local dragstrip last night...

I've never raced 1/4 mile (or any formal drag strip) before. Street tires, no burnout, no brake loading, total newbie driver AND at mile-high altitude. Did a 13.5.

I'm much more comfortable on road racing tracks. Plan on taking the S281 to High Plains Raceway in the next few weeks to see how it handles on a road course. Lots of open lap days in Porsche's, very curious to see how the S281 compares.

I always wanted to try racing on a road. I was hoping for low 12sec. I got 12.8 from my old 03 mach1 with just headers. So I'm hoping for alot better from the Saleen

If you have a stock SC car and expect low 12s you'll be disappointed. With drag radials you will probably break into the 12s. Around 8.1-8.3 in the 1/8th. Really depends on your 60'. Expect mph mid 80s in 1/8 and 110ish in the 1/4. You'll also have wheel hop so be careful with sticky tires.

Stock 5.0s make similar power, weigh less, have a higher rev limiter, geared lower, and don't heat soak going down the strip. There are definitely some inexpensive things you can do to improve, but a stock SC Saleen doesn't have much vs a stock 5.0.
