Oil catch can
How many of you are running an oil catch can? If so what brand. Also does anyone know if a 2000 can be updated to a 2001 single den radio.

I am running one on my purple Saleen. It is one that I custom made (I TIG welded it from aluminum). I also have one on my 1997 that is an off the shelf can, also aluminum.
Yes, you can change to the double DIN. You will need to change out the radio and radio bezel to one from a 2002-2004. You will also need to make a simple modification to make it slide into place. Pretty easy swap out. If you want to use the buttons on the double DIN bezel, let me know. I will dig up the schematic showing what wires go to the ground, illumination, and source for the OEM switches. |

Here is the off the shelf can I had.
And here it is running inline from the PVC. You can see the large hose running to it. It now has a stainless hose going to it. The other end is not run in this picture, but it goes to the air intake tube. |

A couple of questions on running the catch can. Do I leave the pcv valve? From pcv valve to catch can, out of catch can to intake plenum on back of blower.
What do I do with drivers side? Leave it routed to air intake tube? Should I have a catch can on this side as well? |

You can, although with the exception of reducing the amount of oil in the can, it really would not have a benefit to keeping the PCV. Besides, if you are pushing considerable amounts of oil out of the valve covers, you have bigger problems to deal with anyway. As far as routing it, basically keep the routing the way the factory is, just imagine the oil separator can inline with the hose. Driver side is left alone, you do not need a can on that side on most cars. If you wanted to, you can even omit a catch separator all-together, by simply installing a small filter to the PCV hole and a vacuum cap to the intake. Be advised that if you race the car, you will want to check with your local track first to make sure that they will allow an open filtration system on the PCV. |
