Default Q: Optimal 18" Wheel offset and Tire size?

I am ordering 94 Saleen replicas on Monday for my 89 Saleen, and not sure what offset and tire size to go with. I've spent hours on several forums and still not sure. The tire shop is suggesting 18x9's with a 30mm up front and a 40mm in the back on a 275 or 265/35 tire.

I've read a few places to go with a 24mm offset all the way around. I do not however want the wheels sticking out of the back. Your input will be most welcomed.

In a +40; the wheel face will be almost parallel with the mounting surface. Seems way too high, they will look sunken in. A plus 40-45 is something you'd see on a new mustang or even a new Camry with a really flat face. It also depends on the width of the wheel, a +40mm 10 inch wide wheel will stick out(or in in this case lol) as much as a +30mm 9 inch wide wheel. So if you get a really high offset the inside lip of the wheel will rub on the front control arms(like my +27 03 cobras on my 1990 GT) and a plus 40 will more than likely rub on the rear inner wheelhouse and you will need to remove the quad shock. In the case of the repo Saleen wheels I think the 9 inch wide are +24mm and the 10 inch wide are +22mm so they should both be good if you are going for a staggered look. I prefer 9 inch all around so you can rotate tires. And you may not have to remove the quad shock on the rear axle. The Fox Saleen has a greater positive offset than the regular fox but not enough to justify a +40 offset, I'm not sure they make 94-04 Saleens with that kind of offset. They make them just for Mustangs so they should fit perfect. Especially because the 94-04 mustang has a very similar offset to the fox Saleen if I'm not mistaken, Because they switched to rear disc. Most guys at Tire shops are morons. Trust me I used to be one of them =) I hope this all made sense and I didn't ramble too much.

In essence just go with the regular wheels from LMR or American muscle and you should be fine. Also LMR is great on the phone.
