Default Q's: Torsen failure & MaxGrip differential?

On my third run up the hill last weekend, about 100' from finish line the rear end exploded on the 2nd to 3rd gear change.
I put the Torsen in about 6 years ago and has been pretty reliable until now.
When I pulled it to pieces I noticed it only had 4 spiral gears inside, the new one I have here has 8.
Does anyone have experience with Torsen? are there 2 different units.
I have now ordered a Eaton Detroit True Trac, hopefully stronger.

Also what was the Saleen Max Grip unit, who built them ?

****. Did the housing survive, or did it get damaged as well ?

Hi Ronald

A few bruises to the housing, a little damage to the Cortex aluminum cover and a big mess inside.
Luckily I bought a complete new GT rear end some years ago but at this point I don't need it.
Racing again in about 3 weeks, going to go back to 3.55 gears to try and eliminate some wheel spin.
