Q: What liquid / coolant / antifreeze combo in your HE system?
So what are you guys currently using or have used with results?
I just switched out the factory mix, I have no idea what it was or ratio to Prestone with Dex-Cool 50/50 coolant/antifreeze mix. It seems like my temps are now running higher. I think I'm going to drain & flush the system & go straight RO water with a wetter for summer. -Mikie |

Dex-cool? Isnt that GM stuff? I recently put motorcraft orange predilute. It's found on all the newer mustangs including the GT500s.

Yes, the Dex-Cool is GM stuff. We had a bunch leftover at work so i thought i would try it............I'm not impressed.
I'm gonna flush the system out this weekend and go with RO water and a wetter for summer. Then probably back to the Motorcraft Orange come winter. |

Yeah stick with the OEM ford antifreeze. I run 25% antifreeze and 75% water but that is all irrelevant if you live in a colder climate. A bottle of water wetter helps for track events too.
By the way...don't run Dexcool. |

I just replaced my fluid and went with water and 1 12oz bottle of Royal Purple cooling system optimizer and conditioner. My temps are10-15 degrees cooler than this time last year.

I use the Ford Gold Series for the 03-04 Cobras heat exchanger system.

Today was 107 and my IAT was around 160. Before I bought the AFCO Dual fan intercooler I was it was 185+ and before the water and RP additive it was around 170.

I was told that if you aren't to worried about freezing temps that water was a better coolant that a antifreeze/water mix. I added the RP more as a conditioner but it help reduce the temps 5-10 degrees.

Can a 75/25 water/antifreeze mix combined with wetter water be used in a cold weather climate if the car is kept in a non-heated garage all winter and not driven?

Thanks for all the responses.
So, what HE coolant did these cars come with stock? Motorcraft Gold? Orange? 50/50 pre-dilute? Anyone know? |
