Default 91-0012SC: Doin' What They Do Best.

Pretty cool!

Along with dirt track racing, multiple Budlong built engines run at drag strips throughout the Southwest. One particular engine, a Ford 5.0L engine was stroked to 331 cubic inches of displacement. This turbocharged engine, living in the Ford Mustang of Anthony D.ckson, created nearly 1,600 horsepower and ran 7.96 at 183 miles per hour!

I can't believe they did that to a true SC! To each his own!

It's an interesting car. Years ago, it was on eBay with a Vortech and 17" polished Torque Thrust II wheels. Bolt-ons with OE take-off parts included.

At some point after that, it went drag racing... then turned up on a website classified section for race cars and parts. A year or two ago(?). I think it still had the FloFits mounted in those photos.

Anyway.

It's kind of an interesting car with a new(er) competition history. Kinda' neat to see the different paths these vehicles go toward and experience.

Like the white/blue 1990 SC used for Silver State runs that's being restored in IL with the help of a matching no-mile 1991 GT hatch.

Help me with your opinion. I now own this car and am collecting parts for its restoration. In reference to the rear double stack wing, the car pictured with the license plate 64-958 has a half moon keyhole with three screws in the rear valance. The last picture in the string, along with pictures of the car in current state and another I found do not have the three screws in the valance and appear that the lower part of the double stack is flush all the way across and doesn't have the half moon. Mark Lamaskin sent me what he had of SC91-012 and it is definitely my car based on the undercoating plugs in the rocker panel along with the one oddball yellow plug in the door pillar. I believe that the license plate car 64-958 photo is another car and not 91-012. My opinion based on this is that my car came originally with the non-half moon rear double stack, just like the one I purchased with the car sourced by Dale Richie.

Just so you know that car was crashed in the shop that damaged the wing and the front end .. the car was rear-ended by a Ranger and had to have a lot of work done

Thanks for the info Dan, I noted the repaint on the front and rear bumper covers and already had NOS Ford replacements from hoarding. Also have an NOS Saleen body kit for it. Thankfully the rear hatch is original to the car via VIN decal, only a repaint on the exterior of the hatch I presume from the race wing install.

Lol good one Dave. I'm working on removing all of the race car from her and sticking to an MCA concourse for the restoration. I believe the last thousand or so miles of the 19k were hard earned short trips with his hair on fire

Progress has been very slow. I've spent the last year chasing down the correct missing Saleen pieces. Located and obtained the original doublestack wing removed for the drag wing. A holy grail correct intake, correct throttle body, egr spacer, aluminum inlet tube, air meter, meter brackets and springer air cleaner. With the parts that came with the car I now have all the missing Saleen pieces. Located some near NOS DP5 wheels in correct offsets. Currently I'm chasing down the odds and ends Ford pieces and should start the underhand sheet metal replacements soon. SOOOOOOOOO looking forward to digging into it but trying to stay focused and meticulous to restore it properly.

Were the cloth seats repaired in 91-0071... 10-15 years ago? If so, the material was discussed around that time frame.

The 1990-91 material was nothing as special as the 1987-89 material.

Beautiful dream car!! This is an old post, but by any freak chance, do you still have the double stack wing and is it for sale? I just picked up a 91 and has the incorrect wing.
