Angry Q: Fuel injectors? - 2000 S281 SC

I have a 2000 Saleen 281SC and the injectors were going bad, so I went on some forums(Before I found this one to ask what size injectors to get) and asked about what size injectors a 281SC would take, and I got a couple answers, and they all said 24lbs, so I ordered some, and installed them, and I was still getting a PO171 and PO174(lean banks),it runs fine as long as I don't really get on it, but when I do, it starts to take off, then it starts to beg for more fuel, then to find out after looking up the injectors on line form the number, low and be hold, they are supposed to be 30lbs, now after countless searching, I can't find 30lbs, what I want to know can I put in say a 37lbs without having the computer re-flashed, I live in a very small town, and there really isn't anybody around here that could do it, any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks ,Mark

I have a '99 281SC running a Saleen series II blower. I run 42lb injectors on mine along with a Focus/SVT 255L fuel pump and a Kenne Bell Boost-a-pump. Running 24 lb injectors and a standard GT pump just will not do it and you are just begging for lean conditions at WOT which inevitably cause you some burned pistons or worse. Don't make ANY injector or fuel system changes with a professional tune...that is begging for disaster.

I think we should start with how you knew the injectors were "going bad".
It's rare for an injector to go bad, the whole set? Almost impossible.
And injectors usually either work, or don't.
I've never even heard of 37lb injectors.

Those codes usually suggest a vacuum leak.
I'd begin by putting the old injectors back in and then reading up on how to diagnose a vacuum leak.

Your gasket underneath your supercharger adapter plate might be broken. I just had to change mine out as my bank 1 was running lean.

Running 24 lb injectors and a stock fuel pump even with the little series II blower is begging for lean conditions at WOT. I unfortunately know from experience. Its only a matter of time before burned pistons and a major engine rebuild.

The only problem is that, ever since I replaced things that were sending a "Trouble Code", they aren't showing anymore trouble codes, and I would think if my supercharger gasket was bad , it seems that it would show a Lean Trouble code to the cylinders, but it is something to keep in mind, but it is getting close to me putting the car into storage, so I'll have plenty of time to look into this closer, and I'd like to say Thanks for all the tips.
