Thumbs up Saleen Automotive Announces Plans to Produce Saleen Tesla Model S Electric Sports Car

While we haven't seen any concepts yet, Steve has officially announced in a press release some details of a project he's been quietly working on for some time. The Tesla S platform expands the offerings to embrace more enthusiasts who desire Saleen performance and styling in a package other than a traditional muscle car. -- SOEC

Corona, Calif., January 30, 2014

Saleen Automotive, Inc. (OTCQB: SLNN), (OTCBB: SLNN) (the "Company"), an American specialty manufacturer of high performance vehicles, technical performance parts, lifestyle accessories and apparel, is pleased to announce that the Company will produce for the first time, a Saleen Tesla Model S sports car. The Saleen Tesla design will be Saleen's first effort in enhancing an existing electric vehicle.

No release date has been set for completion of the Saleen Tesla Model S, but renderings will be released as Research and Design continue. Our engineers will also prepare a spec sheet which will detail some of the enhancements and innovations we intend to add to the Saleen Tesla Model S.

"Saleen Automotive is intent on continually expanding its presence in the automotive market," stated Steve Saleen, CEO, Saleen Automotive, Inc. "We have already announced or produced incredible vehicles including Camaros, Challengers, and of course Mustangs, adding style and performance to each of those legendary lines. Now, we turn our attention to the vehicle that has defined the sports car in the rapidly growing electric car sector."

"Tesla's values are not a departure from our core values of elite power, style, and performance. I have admired their craftsmanship," added Saleen. "And now with our upcoming entry into the electric car market with a revolutionary design all our own, we share a desire to also produce vehicles that are not dependent on fossil fuels and which accomplish this fuel independence with a tremendous assemblage of grace and technology."

"I fully intend to produce one of the most compelling Tesla's to ever hit the roadway," added Saleen.

Not sure how to take all the branching out on various car platforms. What's next a jeep, a mini van, or a sedan? It seems to take away from the exclusivity factor as a Saleen owner to me. Just my two cents.

Unbelievable how Heather and I have tastes in manufacturers. We have been eyeing up a Tesla for some time now. More on the Model X side but I imagine Steve has a nice little XP-EE (Electric Eel) version in there somewhere too. Now I cam combine both of my favorite manufacturers together. Good move for Saleen in my opinion! Lots of Teslas in Colorado.

I'm not sure what to make of this. The Tesla is a great car; but I was expecting the electric powered Saleen to be a hybrid version of the S7 successor along the lines of the McClaren P1, or the Ferrari LaFerrari. Maybe Steve is leveraging Tesla technology to do both. I am still holding out hope.

Is there any more recent information about this? It is very curious. I would love to see what Saleen can do with a up an coming company who sells a fast sedan. Not to mention a electric sedan.

This could be a real booster for Saleen publicity. It might get the name out for people who never knew Saleen existed. And hopefully generate more sales and recognizition. Not to mention brand value. Maybe some day we will be as valued as a Shelby car is.
