Red Flag Edition in Alloy
I have always admired the clean lines and color combo of the Saleen Red Flag editions; but the Alloy Red Flags are one of my favorite Saleens. I am not sure how many Red Flags were made in the Alloy color(Dave?), but they must be pretty rare. Here is one I found for sale on Ebay. Just posting for the pics because I love this color combo.

I have not seen an Alloy RF Edition in person. I can recall Jim mentioning if you look at the red chevrons, the dot matrix pattern is done in black. Which shows more on Alloy than Ebony.

Thanks for the quick answer, Dave. I have never seen an Alloy Red Flag in person either. I was going to ask you about convertible Red Flags. It is interesting that there was only one made, well technically none since you noted it is unofficial.

You can detect the black in the red chevron fader in this pic. While hardly noticeable, I wonder why Saleen did not use a clear backround for the red fader like the silver and black chevrons do?

I wonder if ASC/Saleen had planned to offer the RF in black only. Maybe Alloy was a late addition. I would also wonder if the Vista Blue Patriot Edition (American Flag) used the same red chevron kit.

I would like to do a contrasting hood tone like yours. I was thinking of doing a carbon one. Your call looks sweet

I know him and the car well, he's the one who sold me my Shaker Lid from the once prominent "Techco." BTW where is that car now, who owns it?

If memory serves correctly, the Torch Red 2005 Speedlab car went into a private car collection in Texas.

That car is really nice. A lot of custom touches. To me, the interior is just as cool as the exterior. Lots of carbon fiber and what looks like beautifully adapted S7 seats.

Keep in mind though, it appears the production Mustang Series VI SuperShaker was possibly the intake from the 5.4 supercharger mounted to the 4.6 supercharger. The 2005 Torch Red Speedlab car used a shaker base and filtration holder that was a tad different than what went into production and possibly used a Mustang intake as well. |

05-1414 was originally both a Press and Executive Demo vehicle. It appears to be the highest serial number 2005 Saleen Mustang. It was born as a 3-Valve model.
In one of the articles, it was stated Carlos had the choice of this red coupe, or a silver convertible, to become his demonstrator. Saleen Inc (then ASC/Saleen) owned the car. Ned Shortsleeve had stated ASC/Saleen offered the car to Carlos, but they wanted full retail for all of the modifications. Or something to that effect. Carlos passed. Here are photos from September 2007. |

That is too bad. He loved that car and had a lot of time invested in it.

The JDM race car is for sale on eBay right now with the same seats.

The Alloy RF Saleens look great in person, there was one for sale near me about 2 years ago but I just didn't have the $$$ at the time. Had I seen these build #'s when it was for sale I would have made it work somehow.
