Q: How many 1998 BAB S281's built?

Just recently bought a 1998 #38 bright Atlantic blue s281 coupe and was just curious if anyone knows the total number built? I received with the car the letter the previous owner had gotten from saleen saying it is 1 of 5 with same color and options. Just curious if anyone ad production numbers broken down by color.

Pretty sure it was 6 or 7 in 1998. One convertible, the rest were coupes... IIRC, there are 21 BAB Saleens total across the 3 years.

98-38 gt coupe. chrome wheels, black int.


98-39 gt coupe. mag wheels,2 pt brace. parchment int.


98-78 cobra coupe. chrome wheels, black int.


98-89 cobra vert. chrome wheels, black int, speedster


98-143 gt coupe. chrome wheels, black int, 2 pt brace.


98-156 gt vert. chrome wheels, black int. speedster. automatic.


dont know the number for these 2.

There may be an estimated ten Bright Atlantic Blue 1998 S281 models. Three are Cobra based. Seven are GT based. Of the GT version six are coupes. Of the six coupes five had the optional chrome wheels. All five had manual transmissions and black interiors.

The highest optioned BAB 1998 S281 coupe is the car without chrome wheels.

Someone needs to save #39! Its on Mod Motor Mustangs Classifieds page on facebook. Salvage title now. Guy wants $5k for car. 65k Miles Has a motor for it with blower to go in but low compression. Needs rings poss.
